I'm posting this here because I'm sure a lot of people are affected, but haven't seen the thread in the advertising.com forum

Bessdeals have been sending emails out containing advertising.com links.

advertising.com are claiming that Bessdeals only use genuine opt in email lists.

I know for a fact that they sent stuff to an address of mine that I never use to opt in to mailing lists, and I know a lot of other people have received spam from them too.

If you've received spam from Bessdeals and want advertising.com to stop doing business with spammers, please tell them about it at http://www.a4uforum.co.uk/showthread...threadid=14477

Ive added my comments to the other thread as they are a real menace to us too. However there is one that is even worse called Fax Facts - has anyone come across them?

What they do is somehow get hold of your fax number then send you regular faxed with offers and promotions. This uses up your fax paper and ink ribbons so actually costs you money as well as wasting your time.

Today they sent an opt out fax telling me to fax back to ensure I dont get any more faxes from them.

In the small print at the bottom it tells you that the unsubscribe fax will cost £1.50 per minute and last about 2 minutes - so Ive effectively had to pay £3 to stop them spamming me.

Geees, I know what you mean Antony those bast*#d fax people have got hold of my number and hit me about 4-5 times a day!! Thankfully I have a digital fax which previews before I waste any ink or paper but it's still efffing annoying!! The opt-out bit should be against the law charging us a timed fax of 1.50 a minute!!!! I sent a letter to them asking to remove my number although fat lot of use that did. Problem is, even if I was inclind to opt-out using their fax back I get the feeling it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference except cost me £3, grrrrrrrrr...

Email spam can be bad but at least its free and can be deleted in a click, but fax spam now that reallly doess take the ****

I always thought opting out of faxes using a premium rate number was against the law anyway.

    Telecomuncations Act
    European E-Privacy Act
    and ICTIS guidelines.

I remember A company being shown on watchdog doing this type of thing and later being fined by ictis.

A web site I visit now and again has an interesting way of dealing with spam- by putting all the offending spammers e-mail addresses's at the bottom of their contact page, so that spam robots will all start to spam each other

Here's the contact page to show you what I mean: http://www.zyra.org.uk/email.htm

and this is their section on spammers:
