More worrying, how many customers are unaware yet. Has their been any news in mags or papers.
For any one or anyone sending visitors to Tesco home shopping
Between the 26th October and 5thNovember, some people will have had their credit cards debited twice.
I bought a TV/Video/DVD package online 26th October online and was debited £649.99p (the price as stated on their website.
I checked my statement and found that Tescos had debited my card for £649.99p again on the 6th November. Total now £1299.98p.
I contacted Tesco via the phone, their customer care rep said yes there had been a problem and that lots of people had their credit cards debited twice that this was the fault of the credit card company and that I should contact them. I informed her that in no way was this my credit card company but it seemed like an admin problem at their end. I asked her to refund my card, she said she could not as the problem was only discovered today (8/11/03) and she had been told not to authorise any refunds. She then told me again to get in contact with my credit card company and get them to refund my card. Again I said it is not the credit card company at fault, further more my transaction was through Tesco and it was their responsability. She confirmed that during the period of 26th October and up to 5th November some people have had their cards debited twice. As she had no breif she went off to get her line manager. Line Managers name was Mrs Ranking. She informed me that Tesco was made aware of the problem on Friday 7th November 03 and that they still did not know why the error happened and until they did they could not authorise any refunds and that the problem was not with our credit card company but had no clue where the problem lay. I asked her that if Tescos knew about the problem on Friday why did they not call their customers to explain what was happening, or send them an email. Why was the problem not resolved on Friday. Why had they been passing the buck to the credit card company. I did explain that if they were accusing the credit card company and it was found out that this was not their fault, they could loose their mercant status.
Mrs Rankings was as much in the dark about the whole problem as her previous colleague, she had no way of contacting any one from accounts and that this would have to be dealt with on Monday.

Not forgetting that some people who pay on their bank cards this could take them over their overdraft limit and hence mean them getting charged. Wonder if Tesco will pay for those who get billed for going over their overdraft as I *think* you can get billed quite a bit for doing it (about £25 a day I've been told with Barclays for 3 days meaning a total of £75). I may be completely wrong but just a thought I had.
Cheers

Tescos will blame the credit card people, the credit card people will blame tescos or their computer systems had a malfunction never get a company ever admit blame unless they can get away with it.
All companies will pay for any charges made in one way shape or form just need to get in contact with the banks or credit firms and explain the situation. Make sure they know it`s a double charging as it might stay on your record and damage your credit with them.
For those who are not aware of it... this is Tesco's latest promotion... Buy One Pay Twice...![]()

I'm sorry Mark but you seem to have a big thing for people that don't post often. You don't know these people you keep slating, wouter is a very well respected member on this (and the old) forum. What is the saying that springs to mind, something about pot, kettle and black!

Julie it was a thing called a joke, which is why I winked
If I was being nasty then I wouldn`t have winked. Its called tounge and cheek humour.
I thought it was "tongue in cheek humour" but I could be wrong? If I was being nasty then I wouldn`t have winked. Its called tounge and cheek humour.
Perhaps there should be "lips shut" humour or even "keep fingers in pocket humour" or even better "don't turn the computer on" humour.
Told you m8, if you`ve got a problem, you know where the PM button is to have it out. Dont keep following posts snipeing, grow up, most of your posts all day have been following mine.
I know you cant be that busy but get a life as some of us are.
Thanks Jules although I am sure it was all done a bit tongue in cheek.
However, lets get this post back on topic. Jess is now overdrawn as a result of Tesco's error and it has just become a mess. Lets hope there are not too many customers out there that are now in the same situation as this is doing us affiliates no favours.

Tesco should change their marketing phrase to
VERY LITTLE HELP
Once again, the might of Tesco against the little man.
Given that this thread is now 3 years old what exactly was your point in commenting on it?
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.
