From memory I think the original campaign was spend 50 get 10 off and then it changed to spend 20 get 10 off.
My initial guess would be that with TDs server problems yesterday someone has uploaded old graphics on to the server.
Placed the new banner on the site for the Spend £20 get £10 off promotion available until 7th Dec and told loads of peeps then thought I was going crazy when checking the site a few days later to see that it was actually Spend £50 get £10 off.
Then my sister complained that she'd followed the link and never got her £10 refund and had used the promotional code JL had emailed her direct with the original offer.
She has sent me the email she received which plainly states spend £20 get £10 off - can JL do this. Can any of the merchants do this? It is very underhand, 'here promote this brilliant offer and then when loads of affiliates do just that - change the offer to something not worth bothering with'
nice and cheap advertising that is.
Does this happen often and what do the affiliate companies think of this? Needless to say I'm going to complain to TD and JL.

Not sure about this specific promotion, but your sentiments here are sadly still quite accurate for many merchants who devalue the benefits that affiliation has to offer. It's not as prevalent as it once was, but it's still quite visible, in the UK market especially, although it is diminishing. It is very underhand, 'here promote this brilliant offer and then when loads of affiliates do just that - change the offer to something not worth bothering with'
Don't get depressed about it though, vote with your feet and bite back at those who offend in ways that can be proven.
Thankfully there are generally sufficient credible merchants now in most sectors to allow affiliates to only work with companies that see the real benefits on offer from affilliation.
Oi! John Lewis - NO!![]()

Ill send my mate at JL Parternship Head Office a stern letter.
Wonder what Ill get back? "Get lost, not my fault, blah blah JL respects its advertisers, la la la, etc"
another reason why you might not get paid by by johnlewis.com is their bizarre customer service, which seems nothing like the shops! For the FOURTH time they have turned up to my mums to deliver a washing machine and failed to do so (this time it was because the delivery guys didn't have a note that they were supposed to disconnect and remove the old machine). Thats despite me calling 3 times last week, including for 3/4 hr yesterday and asking for confirmation that it WOULD be delivered. The machine was ordered and in stock on 14 Feb...and my mum who is 72 doesn't leave the house much as she is too ill...so, it is just total incompetance on the part of JL. Now I am going to make sure everyone I know is aware!
For you guys of course, we havent paid yet, so you wouldn't get paid either!
I know its really bad, and i know that it makes affiliates look like dipsticks or con artists, or even justplain incorrect. But isnt it a bit much jumping off at the deep end with this?
Have you ever considered that it might just be a plain mistake, one that a snotty teenage student might of accidentally made and quite easily rectified.
My point is that as affiliates we dont do ourselves any favours crying foul play with such language as "underhand" etc wont give us any browny points with john lewis will it?
Perhaps a better way of dealing with it is dear johnlewis, please please please when you update your offers please inform the whole of the internet etc etc etc, we might be seen as a more important part of the marketing process. Imagine with all the marketing they are doing we are probably seen as a neccessary evil or last of their thoughts. By working with them we will be seen as the first thing they need to consider when changing campaigns, not the bunch of vultures that we seem to be branded as at times......
Thats my two pence over![]()
