I still don't think that branding the 'vast majority' of Affiliate Managers as 'fairly lazy' is a good attitude to take. Particularly given that most Affiliate Managers who spend time on here are likely to be proactive and looking to recruit new affiliates.
It is also, dare I say it, a very bad way of publicising your company! Instead of making broad generalisations, why not make some constructive criticisms, or raise some ways affiliate management can be done well. Perhaps you could consider contributing to the AMC part of the forum, where we're trying to develop some Best Practice guidelines.
Whatever your own experience with Affiliate Managers, I've met a lot of inhouse managers who spend vast amounts of time and effort on their programme. I think your view may be tainted by managers who have affiliate management tacked onto their full time marketing jobs and aren't allocated the resources to manage a programme effectively. For some it can be an uphill struggle even convincing senior management to take affiliate marketing seriously! Thank god this is changing fast.
Anyway, welcome to the forum, it is a great place for debate, provided it is considered and informed![]()
