Some interesting stats on the top eBay affiliates (copied direct from a mailer just received on CJ).
* eBay's largest affiliate earned over $1,000,000 in December '03 commissions and over $1,300,000 in January '04 commissions! eBay has made several of our affiliates millionaires, but never before in a single month!
* eBay's top 25 affiliates average over $100,000 each month – well over $1.2 Million in annual earnings
* eBay's top 100 affiliates earn almost $25,000 each month – that's nearly $300,000 each year

I wouldn't be surprised if this was... you know what... I might be wrong and I hope I am.eBay's largest affiliate earned over $1,000,000
Bet you're not.Originally posted by Luke

In fact, I bet you a million dollars.
I think the top affiliate is more likely to be one of the big portal sites like AOL or MSN, assuming they are treated as affiliates.
I bet the top affiliate is a spammer and they don't care and nor do I![]()

Arn't stats great! Lets break it down a bit :-
Top 25 average $100,000 - So thats $2,500,000 between them.
#1 earns $1,300,000, so #2-#25 earn $1,200,000 between them.
#2-#24 actually average $50,000.
Top 100 average $25,000 - So thats $2,500,000 between them.
But the top 25 already made the $2,500,000, so #26-#100 made nothing.
Fishy?
What's that saying?...."Theres lies, damned lies and statistics"...and then add web statistics and then commission earnings claims...

even though only 26% fall in this band or above - lol
(calcs based on time of posting - obviously )
Reminds me of a quote from some time ago
"A poor politician uses statistics like a drunk uses a lamppost - for support rather than enlightenment"![]()
Im fairly sure that the top affilate will be a big company and that $1 million wont be worth much to them anyway.
Could be someone like Yahoo! who have ebay ads.
Cheers

Yep,
Ebay class all partners as affiliates, so this will include AOL, MSN etc.

That dollar conversion would be seriously irritating on that level of commission - I still grimace at the £500 a month I lose at the moment through dollar programs.
I dunno, I live with it![]()
