    Hi Guys

Doing some research on banner ads and I was wondering what current banners ads for merchants in your opinion are working well for you and why?

The best banner adverts sell the products or promote an offer. The worst banner adverts for affiliates are the ones that are plainly for brand awareness.

Money wise the First Direct banners have worked for me, and they mange to keep branding to a min and sell the benefits very well.

All said in done text links are king but I do use a banner on each page to back up and promote the offer I am pushing for that merchant.

Couldn't agree with you any more Clarke. Text is the way. And make sure the creative isn't for brand awareness (too true) and the message is clear or backs up your text one the product.

Moogie, my suggestion is base your listings on a good amount of copy/editorial/ product description and supplement it with a creative only to effectively have the brand association with the product.

The human psychy likes to feel reassured and images/ company logos are a great way to lend a sense of confidence and security. Just don't base your sites around the creative/ banner as no one like a banner farm.

Thanks for that guys, as you know we look after a number of merchants and the the importance of banner creative varies from merchant to merchant.
I have found the sites that sell gift experiences rely more on banner creative than a site that sells electrical products, like you say text is king and by far they generate the most sales.
Do you tend to make your own text links up from the info provided by the merchant or do you simply copy and paste the links in?
