Is there any value at all in buying traffic from sources such as this?

TBH buying traffic is a wide open subject..

My take on it is that bought traffic is not specific traffic and the content of your site will most probably be unappealing. Best suggestions for increasing traffic are:

* PPC generation - through the likes of Overture and Google on keywords which are linked to your site are better value and will build a more loyal following.

* Meta Tagging - Don't underestimate this, if you make your site SE spider friendly it's free and you will grow your natural search linking.. which is where most eyes are drawn.
