I have heard the term mentioned a few times and I have done a few searches to try and find out more about what exactly a super affiliate is and how much they earn. Reports that I have read are varied and widely spread and still could not make them out.

Anyone have any ideas on what the step from being an affiliate to a super affiliate is?

Dammit - I thought it was about earnings - if it involves knowing what I'm talking about - I know I'll never make it

How do you define an electrician and a super electrician or determine a plumber from a super plumber?

Super, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Abestweb members who earn $25 a month regard themselves as super affiliates. Some people earn $200 or £200 a month and regard themselves as super affiliates. Etc.

There are four types of affiliate.
    1. Non-earners/newbies, these are people who throw a few banners up. Sometimes the banners are even related to their content and sometimes they may even weave a text link in with their writings

    2. Mid teir, these are people that earn between minimum payout an a couple of hundred each month.

    3. Super affiliate, In my opinion a super affiliate is someone who earns as much or more as they could in a very well paid job. There is no set amount that they earn that gives them the title of super affiliate but usually they do it for a living.

    4. Performance partner, These people are at the very top and earn stacks. Performance partners can often dictate terms to their merchant(s)

If someone asked me what my job title is I would have to say "bum".

In my mind a superaffiliate would be defined from a merchants perspective as being someone who delivers them a a level of business that they consider significant.

I'd say a super affiliate gets phone calls returned quickly by merchants and networks!!

cheers drooper :-) that makes me a super one.

But I'd call myslef more of an super adsense guy as I about 70% of my earnings are earned that way - the lazy affiliates way by wopping adsense up there.

I think there should be some disctinction between the numpty approach I take (seo it, add adsense) and those that go to great lengths to match offers with traffic and get down to the nitty gritty with merchants etc.

    There are affiliates,
    Super Affiliates,
    And Super Duper affiliates

There is also a colour code and an affiliate secret handshake - but you will need to be instructed by "Affiliate Chief" (Who's identity must remain a secret).

Be here at midnight of the third moon and mention the secret password "Cackmatang" and all will be revealed.

I can say no more - (Arrgh, someone's just shot me in the back with a poisened dart - arghhh).........

Super Affiliate? I do pretty good but I get the real impression that the real 'Supers' are leagues ahead of most of us.

I feel the real Supers are forum members like 'QuiCodNuke'

I hear that David Beckham has always wanted to be a Super Affiliate - he wishes he earnt more!

The commonly given figure for a "super affiliate" is someone earning in the region of $10,000 a month or more across all programmes - defined from the affiliate's perspective.

Merchants tend to view things a little differently, and to the merchants it's likely to be an affiliate earning $10,000 or so a month from that single merchant, or maybe one earning a measurable percentage (say 5%) or more of sales.

Although I think drooper's tiered system is pretty useful (although there are plenty of ABestWebbers earning in the $10K+ a month range!)

The bottom line to me is that a Super Affiliate should be able to earn more from affiliate marketing than their day job.

Some merchants will classify someone as a super-affiliate if they are earning $1000 a month; in other categories you'll have to be earning $40k+ a month to get really special treatment.

Personally, I'd say that if you can start to negotiate your own terms (%age revenue, payment terms) with the "merchant" (they may not sell physical goods remember), you're doing something right.

I like to think all affiliates get treated with the same level of respect however I know it's not the case. I know for some people I am a super affiliate for them and for others I am totally crap LOL .. Once had some one apologise for calling me a super affiliate as if it was a slur to be such a thing.

I agree with what Aquanuke is saying.. There is no limit in this game, so I know I am well short of what I would like to achieve but I am not complaining about what affiliate marketing has allowed me to achieve to date.
