Hi all,
If anyone's interested there's a 30 minute Radio 4 programme on internet marketing on the iPlayer:
BBC iPlayer - The Internet Millionaires' Club
Could be good inspiration for any complete newbies here. It's also quite interesting to see how affiliate marketers have been stereotyped...
Cheers for that. I'm now off to create a crap ebooks site before selling my secrets to the highest american bidder.
There is nothing wrong with dreaming of being rich and not having to work again - but for many of those very same people, including myself, they will soon find that in the end its not the money they have been working for, but it was actually the working to get there that kept their lives level.
I no longer have money worries - but worry I still do.
Personally I have found it very hard to remain motivated since earning a million or two - after losing my addiction to the internet above anything more of using facebook to be sarcastic - I find it hard to press ahead with any of my other business ventures.
If I was given a job on my now owned farm and told then that I could earn more the more I worked back when I was a skint bastard - I'd have got alot more done back then.
I had to check the release of the radio 4 program cos I thought I was back in the late 90's

I would say it is pretty accurate of one end of the affiliate marketing spectrum.
Having attended one of these conferences I was amazed at how easily people parted with their money. One guy was selling access to his system that created hundreds of fake facebook profiles and then you used each account to send 50 messages per day to other users with clickbank offerings. He showed huge clickbank earnings as evidence.
Another had an auto-generating website system that for £4K would create a site in seconds from an exact match domain. From the demo he created a site, sent out a twitter message and earned £2 by the end of his presentation (from sending people to ebay). There was a big queue of people signing up to hand over their £4K!
The whole conference was organised by a 19 year old who was living the dream - fast cars, boats, homes in exotic places etc. Lots of screenshots of bank accounts got the crowd very excited.
I got to meet the 'twitter queen' interviewed in the programme who was extremely popular, largely because most of the audience were aware of the hype around twitter but didn't get how to use it for commercial gain. She was effectively offering consultancy services.
The whole 'make money online showing people how to make money online by telling them to tell others how to make money online' has just gone crazy. There is no real product at the end of the day, just systems and methods that aren't really repeatable.
One day I'll write my ebook about how I made it as an affiliate selling washing machines and built-in ovens online, but some how I don't think it will sell well!
