Morning All!
Just thought i'd drop you a quick note here to explain our recent downtime.
As some of you became aware on Thursday evening, we found ourselves subject to a brute force attack on the vBulletin software that we run on the forum. Whilst we usually receive a number of attacks per day this one seemed to be specifically aimed to attack our site.
This caused our developers a lot of extra work this weekend to get the forum back to a normal state, however in order to safely keep the attack away from returning we've had to restore the forum (and posts) to a few days prior. Even though we upgraded to the latest software version of vBulletin we still experienced issues with this attack, and have let vBulletin know about the issue, which they are looking at as a matter of urgency.
The attack itself was aimed at applying an iFrame to forum posts. However as it was noticed a few days ago that virus scanners were picking up on this and we removed the offending iFrame that evening, but the main reason for downtime was ensuring the security loophole was patched at our end, which our developer has been spending a lot of time ensuring this is fixed until vBulleting address the issue!
Welcome back!![]()

It's removed threads and posts that where a week old
Did anyone experience anything weird on their computer within this time?
When I turned on my laptop(which is only a few months old) it was acting really weird. Said something about the harddrive and although I'm on Win7 the task bar and so on was all grey :/
Hope this was just a once off and nothing got to do with this.
2 Trojans of the Artemis variants were picked up from it. Removed no sweat.

You appear to be using Port 22 for SSH still, if I were you I'd definitely change that to a random number. Since I did that to all my sites I have seen the number of BF attacks disappear to almost 0.
Not what caused the downtime but having it at :22 is a risk. Also add any port sniffers to your blacklist, i.e. anyone looking for port 22 is probably up to no good.
