    Hi all,

I'm thinking of using ECU on my WP site, and I would like to know how people are finding using it? Is is reliable, good to use, etc? Also can you input and do your own product descriptions?

Any help would be helpful , thanks

I used it for a bit and the system is decent and does what it says on the tin. But I found it still needed more work than I was prepared to put in!

Don't get me wrong, it's much easier than trying to do it yourself (I've tried - I've got some blog posts on my site regarding the "not so easy content unit" WP plugin that I built!). But you still have to design the units, make sure you get the right products displayed, and the bit that annoys me - sign up to all the networks / in house programs.

I found I made most money from Amazon so I ended up building my own Amazon content unit plugin that I now use everywhere. I just add a keyword to the end of a post and it goes and lists out some up to date products - simples! To sweep up other opportunities I use Skimlinks - but like ECU you have to give up some of your commission. The win with Skimlinks is that you really have to do nothing except collect the money.

But each to their own, perhaps it depends on the size and scope of your projects and how much time you have to manage them.

The best thing to do would be to trial the free ECU version, sign up and give them a go .

    Hi there D4N,

Webgains has partnered with with Easy Content Units on our UK & US platforms, meaning that 100% of the commission goes to the affiliate. Why not try out the free version with one of our merchants, it wont cost you a thing

If you'd like any more information, please let me know thanks.

    Kind regards,

    Emma

Sure with ECU there's a bit of upfront work, but it is incredibly easy to create a template and use that for ever onwards. Yes, you can write your own descriptions and tailor the ads to how you want them and OBVIOUSLY you have to sign up to merchants you would like to promote.
Amazon might be easier - but that £7 commission cap is a huge barrier for me - I don't like earning less than 3% for any merchant/store that I promote and that single session cookie!!! No thanks.
Skimlinks I've never tried, so can't comment on.

I do know though that Jason and John from Easy Content Units are two of the most helpful and honest guys you could meet and would be more than happy to answer any of your concerns.

    I like it.

I'm on a Pro trial at the moment and will probably get the Pro membership when it expires. You can edit the product descriptions, layout etc of your units (with Pro) and you get a daily email if anything becomes out of stock. You don't need to sign up to every Affiliate network, there are fields to input your ID numbers for the ones you're signed to then when you search products then products for those networks will appear. After initially inputting all your IDs that's the only time you need to do it.

And as Emma said, if you don't want the Pro version then you'll still get 100% of your links if promoting Webgains merchants. £19.99 for the Pro version so if you're making good commissions then I think it's worth getting the upgrade so you can fully customise your units.

I agree Elaine, I've had to message Jason a few times recently and he's got back within a couple of hours + they made 2 improvements to ECU in a matter of days after I suggested these so they are open to suggestions for advancement.

I've been using it on nearly all my sites for nearly two years now I think.

Can't fault it. I mainly only use amazon and affiliate window on my sites and they are easy enough to setup in ECU.

I've been using ECU Pro for 18 months. It's reliable and effective, and the support is always there. I'd give it a go.
