Isn't .org.uk supposed to be for non profit organisations only? So i'm guessing what you want the domain for as to where it might rank?
Although I consider myself a beginner when it comes to such things, I prefer to stay clear of .org.uk
Straight up (emd).org.uk against (emd).co.uk which one wins when it comes to ranking?
I say hands down, no messing, power house -> .co.uk

.co.uk and .com are the ones I'd always look to go for.
Yeah, someone posted a quote here recently that suggested that a move has been made to shut down misleading org sites that appear to joe public like they might be providing a helpful service but are actually making profit. That said I've just tried googling for a source and couldn't find anything so....
Google once stated on their blog that they don't care about the extension, but perhaps few of us would believe that. They insist they are only concerned with the most relevant sites in their results - and I would agree the domain name shouldn't be a big factor in that decision.
If nothing else the well known domains are familiar to users so it makes sense to take advantage of that.
Got to be .co.uk all the way for me, as long as you can afford it!
But you can still get .org.uk to rank, check out my personal favourite, skytvoffers.org.uk run by CK Net. Ranks happily for the term [sky tv offers] and [sky tv deals] and is most definitely for profit!
Roll on shutting down misleading org sites...
I've built a fair few .co.uk and .org.uk in my time and haven't notice any difference when it comes to ranking them.
Nominet say .org.uk are intended for non profit websites but will not prevent you from using them.
If you're looking to build up a brand then go for .com .net & .co.uk
