How far in advance do you set goals?

Hi All

Just wondered how many of you set goals (financial, traffic etc) and if so how far in advance you set them? We generally set financial monthly goals at the beginning of each year, and the same for traffic goals. The monthly targets increase each month based on a mixture of previously gleaned info and wild guesswork!

It's a help for me to keep focussed and keep building in order to meet the increasing monthly goals.

What does everyone else do?

I have a daily target which is achievable this will not be revised until daily average for a full month exceeds it.

Also I set monthly targets for each network / indy program based on previous 12 month average + growth target and as an incentive I give myself a token reward for each target that is achieved.

From my favourite book...

To set your goals, start with your funeral, then work backwards. Once you know what you want to end up with it's pretty easy to break it down into achieveable 20 year, 10 year, 5 year, 3 year, 1 year, this quarter, this month, today! targets.

Worked for me ever since!

PS. I haven't set any real goals yet. Just to get a proper site up and running will do fine for now.
