Don't know as I haven't read any of them but I still make a living - maybe that tells you something![]()
First of all, thanks to the people who replied to a question I posted yesterday, as I stated there I am right at the bottom of this (large) ladder and want to get things clear in my head before I build a site and start attempting to make a living!!
Ok, my question today is;
Do you recommend purchasing any of these publications (ebooks) from the experts (who are normally US based!) on how to make a living doing this kind of business?
To be more precise, I was thinking about buying 'Mini Site Profits' written by Phil Wiley (a Yorkshireman now living in OZ)
Obviously there are many others to choose from but this was the one that got my interest.
Regards

I did see people I resepect and admire from Danny Sullivan's site saying good things about Aaron's SEObook.com - but that is only part of the stuff - getting people stay on your site and come back is just as important, if not more so.

Receptional Internet Marketing
Hi Andy
I've bought Phil Wiley's ebook.. was a good one.. I also used to be subscribed to his newsletter (which is sometimes good sometimes just plugs for more overpriced ebooks) but to be honest you can learn the same stuff (or better) by simply visiting this forum and asking questions or doing a search on the forum...
One free newsletter i really like on SEO is by Sean Burns of WebmastersReference.com he keeps it simple!
I've found (personal opinion here) that most of the US "Marketing Guru's" like talking more about themselves and what they've done to make $1bn, oh that and filling their overprices e-books with hype and fluff and a little bit of really useful stuff that you can find by asking the real experts here anyway! (Note; i said "most", not "all"!!).
One note about site design is look up how to use SSI - Server Side Includes on your site, will save a ton of time!
I agree with Kbudden's comment about still being able to make a living without buying those ebooks but getting free (possibly more valuable) advice here.
Hope some of that was of some use!!![]()
trafficology.com has a nice newsletter too
I can also recommend Phil Wiley's ebook. This got me started
making money in the first place a few years ago.
Is that recommendation enough?
Steve
The really successful affiliate marketers are too busy making money to write books. The best place to learn anything other than the absolute basics is forums like this.
Never email donotemail@WeAreSpammers.com
Hey Andy, I've got a few ebooks that my mate sent me. A lot of what they say is rather rudimentary, but can be very useful indeed for beginners. I read 'em and got loads of useful tips myself. Tried to PM a couple of the ebooks to you, but apparently you can't send files through this forum. Also it says you have chosen not to receive emails via this forum.
If you or anybody else would like me to email you two or three webmaster/online marketing eBooks, send me a PM or write to ceo@NOJUNKMAILazam.com (removing the NOJUNKMAIL of course) and I'll email them to you.
Better you spend your money on making/promoting your website(s)![]()

Hi Andy
As suggested above, ebooks may give the beginner a kick-start although once you've seen a couple they do start to repeat themselves. By the way, Phil Wiley's Mini site profits is due for an update. In a recent post on his forum he recommends waiting for his update before buying.
