Hi all,
I realize that this has probably been covered, but....
This morning I’ve upgraded to the latest version of Windows XP Professional, and the latest version of Norton’s Internet Security. After this upgrade, I see that many of our links, banners, and images are not being display either correctly, or at all. After digging into a few of the forums available, I see that this is the intent of Norton. I’m not sure what “other” firewalls out there are doing, or what others are using, but this is obviously not a good thing for affiliate marketers.
So, my question is what do you know about this problem, and do you have any solutions that will prevent firewalls from filtering out links, banners, and supplied images? How many users use Norton Internet Security? Any information on this subject will be appreciated.

I have just read all this thread myself. All very worrying. I am very interested in both becomming an affiliate and (possibly) a merchant too. What percentage of Internet users can not see ads?
I have just joined Affiliate Window... and i can't even see the banner ad examples on the configuration pages on the AF site.. let alone seeing the ads after I have pasted the code into my own site.
Of course.. if I turn Norton Firewall off it is all ok. I can't belive that Norton are allowed to set "block ads" as the default option. Is this not illegal in some way???

After further investigation, I see that the CJ and Linkshare ads are blocked, some of the others are working (i.e. Smart Quotes, Trade Doubler, OMG..). So I'm really not sure what to think at this point.

I recently bought McAfee and was pleasantly surprised - I haven't noticed anything untoward yet. It's cheaper than Norton too - 34 quid for the antivirus and firewall from WHSmiths. They do sell a more comprehensive security suite as well with an "antispam" element in it so I suppose that could block afiliate codes but I shouldn't think that is as popular.
"Symantec provides comprehensive Internet security products, solutions and services for more than 120 million users around the world ranging from some of the world's largest corporate enterprises, service providers, government agencies and higher education institutions, to small businesses and individuals."
Doesn't give a breakdown of products though.
Cheers

I was just looking at Dell laptops and they are now giving the option of Norton Internet Security or McAfee Security Centre, with McAfee being their recommended option and the McAfee trial as the default option. Nice change.
And there's a McAfee affiliate program on TD - which is a bit ironic really.

Try here - full anti-virus and firewall for 7 quid! (not an aff link). God I wish ebuyer had an affiliate program - I spend thousands there!
