    Hi,

I've searched the boards but cannot find any information of previous posts concerning free email marketing software or service providers.

I don't really have much money to be honest so would like to try out a free one while I build a list. Once I have an established list I will hopefully then be able to transfer to one of the others recommended elsewhere. Like supercod's bespoke! If I earned anywhere near that from affiliate markeing

Could someone please advise. I tried looking at topica as I thought they were free but apparently not !!!

Any advice or guidance will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Tiger

Do it yourself, but check with your host if they let you send out mailourts and how many per connection....

    I use mailerPro from doitasp.com

They do a free version called mailerFree and it worls a treat...

The cpanel software that comes with most hosting often has some pretty comprehensive third party mailing list software included, though I'd be tempted to run it from a different domain name / server for security.

If you would like to see how something like that suits you then feel free to get in touch - I could do you a few months free trial and then a small monthly arrangement, and a couple of people on this forum can probably vouch for me.
All of this on the condition that you did a proper double opt-in mailing list (user asks to join, you confirm, they say yes) - unsolicited email is one of the quickest ways to annoy people in this business.

    Stay lucky,
    Steve

    Take a look here;
    http://tincan.co.uk/phplist

If you have a host that supports PHP and gives you a mySQL database this is the mutts nutts - and is free

Build multiple lists in a single database (maybe your visitor would like to be kept up to date on Phones, Movies or Sports). They just tick the info they want - and thats it, jobs a goodun. When it comes to sending, you just send to the relevant group.

If you want to make everyone join your monthly newsletter then this is also possible - and it allows double optin so people have to confirm before they receive anything.

yeah, most of them have similar features but this one does look good, especially since it's developed in the UK - one would hope that it avoids some of the problems that come from massive teams of open source coders from all around the world.

I'm using dadamail and have been for sometime now. Currently working with a list of around 10k and it handles it fine. Allows me to send out X amount of emails per hour so that i don't kill the server too which is nice

Ive installed phplist and seems fairly simple to use (cant be to hard if I got it installed )

my problem is when a user clicks to confirm on the first email they get 3 welcome emails.

normal mails send just one so thats ok,

i just think it would annoy me if i got sent 3 welcomes, and may put other people off.

    any ideas guys.

    regards andy

p.s. i posted on their own forum but no reply.

Have you dug around in the code to see what happens when somebody clicks on the link? if there's no apparent error you could always do a fresh install, shouldn't take you more than 5 mins.

tried to look to see what happens when clicked.

    it goes to domain.com/lists/?p=confirm&uid=.....etc etc.

looked in the code for the pages not a chance.

went for the full reinstall and am still getting the same problem

Ohh err, thought it had worked fine untill i clicked on the link to confirm my subscription. Then i was indeed bombarded with your 3 thank you emails. It's not anyhitng to do with your email setting for noreply@sendto.co.uk is it?
