Over the last few days had a couple of people, complaining about our "PPC system", and the fact that their adverts weren't being displayed...

After conversations with the "users" found that they had their javascript "disabled" and they both belived it was a firewall / security issue...

I knew that they had it disabled because the google Ads weren't showing either...!!!

I told them that disabling Javascript would reduce the functionality of many sites they visit !!

I hope this doesn't become a trend...!!!! anyone else having similar stories ?

It will effect you all, especially with javascript includes from affiliates !!!!

Unfortunate fact of life you could try something like this

    PHP Code:
    <noscript>
It appears that your browser does not support JavaScript
    or
    you have it disabled.
This site is best viewed with JavaScript enabled.
    <
p>If JavaScript is disabled in your browserplease turn it back on then reload this page.
    <
p>Or, if your browser does not support JavaScript
    click <a href="http://www.your-web-site-address-here.com/no-javascript-page.html">here</a>.
    </
    noscript

And the majority of users will leave it like that because as pip says they think it's a security issue.

That's a really big issue if it's the case... because I know of at least 1 network that is only using JavaScript for the call back and that could mean a lot of lost income... a bit more research is needed to confirm what happens and who and what it will effect.

    Very interesting SpendaPenny,
renegade - When I installed service pack 2. It did not disable javascipt by default, however I think that more research is definetely needed because as supercod says - there is one network that depends totally on javascript for the callback code.

Has anyone else noticed their security settings being changed to disallow javascript after installation of SP2?

    Pip

You can select dates going back as far as Jan 200 on TheCounter

    http://www.thecounter.com/stats/

There have always been people who intentionally turn JS off, mainly to stop unwanted popups.

    Hi,

SP2 definately does something with JavaScript. I have updated my computer. I am find on the internet. However when I am on using Macromedia web design and press the F12 button to show my page, it comes up with a Java warning saying its been disabled.

When I upload my page it still appears fine however

    Regards

    Baz

SP2 definately does something with JavaScript

It disables javascript on your local machine only - so if you had some script on a page you've developed and then test it locally it would fail. Although if you test through a local web server it will still function.

SP2 does not disable javascript on web pages. Of course you can also set IE not to disable js on your local machine
