I've ventured into the PPC hellhole.

    I looked, I listened & I risked - grits teeth.

Ran a few campaigns some work great one day - crap next day.
Some just do not work. No prob - a learning curve.

But got a campaign that is pushing just over break-even, and I make the typical "newbie" mistake of checking stats as soon as I get home after one or two "cokes" - and I have hit 2x normal CTR & killed budget by £2'ish.

    QUESTION

    Do I go to bed
    Or
    Do I increase my "budget"

I know Google will refund the over delivery if I go to bed. Will they refund if I increase my budget?

At 02.15am after a couple of coca colas I ain't gonna increase the budget!

But - do you think the traffic is still there at this time?
I increase my budget & drop "max per click" ?

Or should I work this out for myself?

PPC is a minefield, and you need to keep an eye on those stats. Personally, I never bid more than the minimum level and set a daily budget equal to whatever I tend to earn on the very worst days of the month.

I just left it in the end & google refunded overdelivery.
Conversion wasn't great so probably didn't loose anything.

    Oh yeah.. another thought.

Remember that at this time of the year PPC budgets can get stretched because of the amount of online shopping and you might be tempted to budget for more than you could normally afford.

However, a lot of companies seem to go under in January if they've had a bad Christmas, so past experience tells me that it's wise not to over-extend yourself.

I think it was eToys/KBToys that filed for bankruptcy last Christmas.. a lot of affilaites lost money on that one. I got quite seriously shafted by a UK retailer after Christmas too.

I think I'd just managed to forget about that one until now!
