Ok this is just a thought but how many people would be interested in promoting our new half price rabbit offer on adwords if we were to pay for a domain name for you and put a standard landing page on it with our top 5 sellers ?

Please tell me if this is a silly idea but it sounds to me as if this adwords change actually inclreases your chances of filling more adwords spaces if you're prepared to buy domains and build landing pages ?

How about you only let me promote it and I'll pay for the domain name?! Only kidding! The domain offer is not really of interest to me, but it has reminded me to try promoting the rabbit.

i didn't want this just to be about natural instinct. It was more of a general thread about whether affiliates would appreciate merchants creating landing pages for them or tools to create their own quickly ?

Hmmm been thinking about this today myself.

What about the issue of duplicate content? Do you think google will spot these and not them them through anyway?

Not if it's a Bot checking, you find it's the same as SEO.. only if someone complains will they do anything otherwise they do the best they can, however Adwords do get hand edits at present so maybe that will keep up.

But lets face it, how hard going to be for people to chuck up some text and a few images different from the next guy.. I know I be trying to make the best page I can for each merchant that would get the user to buy from them than to use some template pre-made thing that would not achieve this effect.

Of course smart money is on making sure you have a setup that can deal with individual products per page and not have specific keywords turn up on a page that just gives general information on merchant. As just like having a keyword for a specific product go to the home page of a merchant, same will be true on this.

you're right clarke, it doesn;t take long to whach up a page fbut for affiliates that do a lot of ppc advertising for different merchants it could add up to a really big job so just trying to make things easier.

On your second point, what about content units that allow the affiliate to choose a product or group of products and have a landing page built for them.

For example an affiliate advertising a clothes shop might be targeting a group of keywords for "jeans" , they could use the merchants content unit thing to create a page about jeans with links in place in about 10 seconds ?

I'd be happy with some insight into which keywords have performed well for rabbits in the past and some content units. Regarding the domain name, if we can't afford the 2.50 for a new .co.uk then we probably shouldn't be in this game at all...

I think its a great idea from an general affiliate viewpoint - I think its going to serve three points:

    1) Show Google the affiliates aren't put off and can carry on regardless - there's always another way (I sound like a NatWest advert )

    2) See whether Google then try to bar this practice

    3) Give an opportunity for us all (well, those of us who use Adwords - both affiliates and merchants) to evaluate where we go next without rushing into anything

I've been thinking along the same lines of a few others posting today and I think it might be the kick up the bum i need to stop relying on adwords so much - and not piling 4 digits onto my credit card each month can only be a good thing!

Can someone help me on this - I'm trying to whack up a mini site for rhe rabbits but I can't find the 50% off offer on the natural instinct site. The banners at POR say 50% but they just lead to the main domain which only lists a 40% saving for jessica rabbit and £6 off on the romping rabbit. Anybody know where I'm going wrong?

    Cheers,
    Steve

    Its this page: http://www.naturalinstinct.co.uk/ite...?productid=830

You're right, it does have 40% in the red box, but does then state 50% in the 'current Promotion' text. Ahh, its 50% off RRP, but 40% off normal NI price.

sorry for the confusion guys, i've now amended all the discounts so it shows the saving you make on the RRP, not the saving you make on the price we were selling it at previously.

Also, i've created this page of rabbits with all the discounts in order which should maxmize conversions if you link to it...

Cheers - should have the site up in the next day or two.
    16 rabbits - didn't know there were that many. That's made my mini-site into a midi-site!

It will be just Like Serps. Something like this will work for a few months, Google will realise what is going on and they will stop it. And then people will think of something else and so on.

Its good that you are thinking of solutions for your affiliates, but a novel aproach for people who havent done so already would be to try building their own unique content and sites so they dont have to try and get round the rules !
