    AVG anti-virus, stopping email

    recently got AVG and been using it, quite nice etc no problems. But now I cant send email.

    Every email I send is bouncing back with the subject 'AVG for Email - Undelivered mail returned to sender'

    and the body:

    This is the AVG E-mail Scanner program.

    I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned
    below could not be delivered to one or more destinations.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    Cannot open smtp connection to '62.149.36.42'
    DATA: 5.7.1 (IPT:S1) http://postmaster.info.aol.com/ipt AOL has identified this mail to be unsolicited bulk email.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Your e-mail message is being returned to you in the next part of this
    message. Try to send the message again.

    Should you need assistance, please contact your administrator or your
    internet service provider.



    anyone know whats up? even turned scanning of outgoing messages off and still bounced back.

    I don't like AVG - I used to use the free version but it caused more problems than it stopped and updating was a nightmare.
    If you're using the free version look here for some alternatives.
    Or splash out less than a tenner at ebuyer.com and you can get a years worth of Panda antivirus (including firewall) or MCaffee antivirus V9 (no firewall but top virus checker). They're in the oem software section. They have some others too but they're not as big brands.

    i had norton, but that broke, this was a quick fix

    I heartily reccomend Panda - I use it on most of the computers I build for people, though I've got Mcaffee myself. The Panda planinum Internet security (the one with a firewall) is 5.99 at the mement, or 7.04 including VAT - not bad when you look at the prices on their own website.
