    Hi All,

I am very interested in becoming a merchant but before hand I would like some information of the people who really matter.

I would like to know what attracts publishers to a merchant, apart from the obvious the amount paid back per booking.

I am in the travel industry is there still a big interest from publishers towards this area?

Which company is the best to go with? I have spoken with a few such a Tradedoubler and CJ and a few smaller companies but woud like to know who the publishers prefer a marketer to be with. I am UK based so would like to try and get UK publishers obviously all are welcome but that is where I would initially like to point.

Any important information I need to be aware of before I move forward.

I am not going to publish my url here as I feel that is the wrong thing to do as the point is to find out what you want from a Merchant. If anybody would like to see it please feel free to send me a message

    Thanks

I would actually say that the likelihood of a program converting is more attractive than the commission levels. Consistently regular sales are much better than the prospect of earning a decent payout every now and then… or heaven forbid, not at all!

I manage quite a few travel related affiliate programs and the short answer is yes! So long as you are hands on and willing to work with publishers, maintain a good working relationship the results for both parties can be great.

We have several affiliate programs on affialitefuture.co.uk, Trade doubler and recently launched on Paid On results. I would recommend looking at the type of programs running on the network related to yours. If many travel related affiliate programs are on a particular network what do they know that you don’t? Why have they chosen that particular network and not opted for one of the alternatives? Ask yourself is it better to be the only travel related merchant covering your specific field or better to be one of many in the same category? Which would attract more affiliates to sign up with your program? What do you offer that distinguishes you from the rest?

    Good luck
    Paul.

As always I would recommend that you run an indy affiliate program alongside any network campaigns.

With an in house program you are in an excellent position to develop a close relationship with your affiliates. I'm happy to talk with you if you want to discuss possibilities.
