    OK im getting very low impression figures for my jamster adwords. Im using my own unique domain name and have over 300 phrase purely for crazy frog related stuff only.

    Now for example so far today ive only had 21 clicks and 1,700 impressions which I think is very low isnt it?

    It says my average position is 6.4 - 7.

    Ive increased my pay per click but its still low and so far today ive ony spent £3.50 on clicks.

    Is this low or is it just me being uber paranoid, any advice is greatly appreciated.

    When i started the ad campigns 5 days ago I got vey good click throughs and impressions.

    I am not sure whether somethings changed but I have a keyword that must have been dormant which suddenly started to get clicks and impressions again. Its had 150 clicks today already. It could be the urls thing where someone's stopped bidding. Generally speaking my impressions and clicks are up, but it seems erratic.

    I have also found that when you add new ad groups or campaigns, it can take a couple of weeks before they really take off. ie if google have flagged the keywords for inspection.

    You can check in tools whether your keywords are in full swing.

    Should my adgroup be set to something like broad match or something.

    I chose UK when setting it up.

    Ive never used the section before.

    I always set up the keywords with all matching options

    keyword
    "keyword"
    [keyword]

    Also you can put the keyword in the title:

    {KeyWord:Blue Widgets}

    Then when your ad displays the keyword will be automatically bold and you'll get a better clickthrough. Saves loads of work that one. Hardly anyone seems to use it - just as well.

    But if I have 200 keywords then to have the keyword in the title would mean setting up 200 seperate adgroups yes, i mean you can only have 1 title in an ad.

    Also what do you mean by the following.

    I always set up the keywords with all matching options

    keyword
    "keyword"
    [keyword]

    Also you can put the keyword in the title:

    {KeyWord:Blue Widgets}

    Im not sure I follow you exactly.

    Ive just noticed the following in the adgroups for my irleand, usa, austalia and finland account.

    "The user is located outside your campaign's geo-targeting area" what does this mean. Ive set up accounts for the other countries and chosen those countries in the early stages of ceating a new campaign.

    It says my average position is 6.4 - 7.
    Here is your problem, you need to up your Max cpc and your ranking, if your ROI will allow it. If not it's back to the drawing board.

    No!!

    Thats the beauty of that tool, you enter it like this

    {KeyWord:Blue Widgets}

    past that into your title field, put your default keyword for that ad group where it says blue widgets and that will be replaced with the keyword that was searched on, provided it fits in lengthwise.

    You can put up to 2000 keywords in one adgroup. The only time your default keyword should show is when the serch term was too long to fit in the ad.

    The other bit is, when you put your keywords in, use the brackets and the " " as well, this will give you broad matching and phrase matching. Best thing is to read the adwords tutorial as well.

    if you do that and increase your max bid (as above post) you will get better click through.

    Ok thanks, some great advice here thats appreciated.

    Ive changed my title to the {KeyWord:My Keyword} including the brackets, correct yes?

    Now the " " things, should I copy all my keywords and add the brackets to them and paste back into my account, so I have 3 sets of the same keywords but 1 is normal, 1 set ha sthe " " and 1 set has the { } , is this correct.

    I have over 300 keywords so d i have to go in and manually put the brackets on each one or is there a quicker way via google to do this.

    Is it possible to have too many keywords in your account so some that dont perform well have a negative efect on the goodones, when you say back to the drawing board do you mean starting again with fewer keywords I know work well and have a higher cpc so i get more click throughs and slowly add more keywords.??

    Thanks

    Thats right. It is a bit labour intensive and there is some software that you can buy to do it. I heard about it in Perry Marshall's adwords course.

    You can have up to 2000 keywords in each adgroup. Its not possible to duplicate keywords in the same adgroup but google will rotate them if you have duplicate keywords in different groups or campaigns. You are not allowed to have two ads showing for the same keyword at the same time.

    but surely if the same keyword appears 3 times that counts as duplicate, ie for example the keyword widget.

    widget
    "widget"
    {widget}

    thats 3 times it appear, does that count or cos there in brackets its different??

    My CTR is 1.8% which is low i beleive. I have over 150 keywords not getting impressions etc.

    Would starting again with keywords I know get high vlume and a higher cpc be better.

    no they are different matching options so they are not the same. You will find that one of the options will come out best.

    I've been adding keywords since last april and now have tens of thousands. If they are not getting any impressions its because your bid is too low or theres no demand. You will find out when you set up a new adgroup, it tells you the amount you will need to bid to get the top position. If its £26 you know theres a lot of competition. It its 4p you have either found a niche or theres no competition/demand.

    have you tried the suggestion tool on google?

    btw your bottom one needs the square brackets [ ]

    widget
    "widget"
    {widget}

    Ive checked my account and ive these 3 things show up when i click on ad diagnostics in tools.

    Not being an adwords wizard can someone explain to me please what it means and what I can do to rectify it.

    Ad not shown | Reason: Although your ad is showing, it is not ranked high enough to appear on the first page of search results.

    What does this mean?
    To ensure a positive user experience and the quality of ads within the AdWords program, Google constantly monitors the clickthrough rates (CTR) of all accounts to ensure they're performing as well as they should. We will slow the delivery of ads on keywords that fall below a minimum required CTR (which varies by ad position, but is 0.5% for the top position and slightly reduced for each subsequent position).

    What can I do?
    Please refine your keywords and ad text. For tips on optimizing your account for the best performance possible, visit our Optimization Tips page, or learn more about our minimum CTR and performance monitor.

    ------------------
    Ad not shown | Reason: Your ad delivery for this keyword has been slowed.

    What does this mean?
    Due to a limited number of ad positions on a given page (ten ads may appear per page), your ad could not be shown within the first page of search results. Learn more.

    What can I do?
    There are up to ten positions available on a given search results page. To appear in one of these positions on the first search results page for this search term, you may consider increasing your maximum cost-per-click (CPC), improving your clickthrough rate (CTR) through optimization, or targeting more specific keywords. For tips on optimizing your account for the best performance possible, visit our Optimization Tips page.

    --------------------
    Ad not shown | Reason: The user is located outside your campaign's geo-targeting area.

    What does this mean?
    Google makes every effort to identify the geographic source for all user searches. We've determined that the user conducting this search is not located within your chosen geo-targeted area. Learn more.

    What can I do?
    You may want to review the geo-targeting settings for this ad campaign. Click here for more information on viewing or changing your geo-targeting settings.

    Better (in a way) than:

    Ad not shown | Reason: Our system is experiencing technical difficulties.

    Not sure if anybody else organises their keywords in Excel but I find the CONCATENATE function really useful for adding " and ] characters to a list of keywords.

    Mess about with the function until it looks right in the cell then do a Copy then Paste Special Values into a new cell to get your new list - then Copy and Paste this into Adwords. Saves loads of time.
