Thread: Advice for merchant Ampalian Direct Jewellery please.

    As I mentioned when I introduced myself Ampalian.com is signed up with OMG. I'm very happy with this, I like their personal support, my direct line to my account manager and their reputation. I know this is founded on finance but I'm happy to be an early adopter as they expand their operations. My product feed with them will be ready on Monday in time for the run up to Valentine's Day.

    I have also hooked Ampalian into Shareasale primarily to attract some US based affiliates.

    I wonder if I might ask your advice please. I'm a big fan of affiliate marketing. I want to pay lots of money to enterprising individuals rather than throw it at advertising.

    Someone said to me that I should not compete with my affiliates. i.e. that I shouldn't be in an adwords bidding war with my affiliates for example.

    How does this work please? What general tips do you have for me as a merchant? What are my do's and don'ts? How can I best attract affiliates?

    Make sure that you have a product feed available, with plenty of good descriptive text for each product. Make new creative for special occasions (Valentines, Mother's Day, Christmas, etc.) but maintain the existing creative. Let affiliates know when there is a significant change to the product feed or new creatives via an email newsletter.

    And don't try to undercut the market - this will start a price war and everyone will lose out Add value instead - free giftwrap, personal message card, that kind of thing...

    I'll make sure I do all of the other stuff too. Additional creative is being designed right now. There will also be creative designed for specific occasions over coming weeks.
