I hope this doesn't seem like a stupid question.

What do people think is good earnings from affiliate marketing?
What do networks & merchants consider to be good traffic & revenues ?

I know a lot of people will think there is no answer to this, it is
more to do with achieving your own personal goals and living happily.

    But....

There are some sites with less than 50 visitors a month, and other sites with over 50000 uniques a day. Some affilliates are hobbyists with full time jobs and lives , others are ..well the other end of the spectrum. I am sure some affiliates represent a major % of online earnings for some merchants.

What does this forum think that a 'super affiliate' really is if you had to quantify it ?

I keep coming across this term, and of course have a vague idea of what it means, but have no idea of the benchmark.

It doesn't actually matter at the end of the day, but I would be very interested what this forum thinks

What is a super affiliate ?

I think to be a super affilliate you have to wear your pants on the outside of your trousers.

    A few suggestions...

An affiliate who is consistently one of the top 10 performers for an affiliate network.

An affiliate who is consistently one of the top 10 performers for a merchant.

Someone who has the ability to turn their hand at new programs and generate sales for any merchant they want by utilising their high traffic sites or expertise in SEO or PPC.

Someone who makes a very good income from affiliate marketing. Don't really know how to quantify this one as "good income" could mean lots of things. As a rough ball park figure, an affiliate who earns over £100k a month maybe?? Then again you could argue that someone making over £50k a month is a super affiliate too.

    All of the above??

if i could make £1000 a month, id concider myslef a super affiliate.

small picking to some, but to me that would make a huge difference, so i guess everyone would have their own deffinition.

to me i think it would be someone wo makes enough money to live comfortably, and someone who enjoys doing the affiliate thing.

From a clients perspective, we often find that the top 10% of Affiliates drive 90% of sales. (Pareto's Law, though his was 20/80).

We define 'super affiliates' as those within that top 10%. Obviously volumes have an impact on this, if an affiliate is driving 90% of a small programme, it is not the same as a high-volume one.

True 'super-affiliates' are in this top 10% in a number of programmes, and can even be expected to reach this level when they take on a new programme!

Btw, if you think you are one of these, feel free to get in touch!

I like Kieron's approach regarding new programmes. Super affs will have traffic all over, new program comes on, they stick up a few links and within seconds (maybe slight exageration, minutes then) they have sales.

Obviously with this comes the money.

But then again super affs will *probably* have been doing this for quite a while, and so built up a nice range of sites in many different areas.

What the network, merchant and anffiliate see as super affs will probably all be different. To be a super aff for a network you'd need to perform very well across a range of merchants, to bring in a noticeable amount for them. Super aff for one merchant would only need to perform well with that merchant. Super aff for yourself, is like whats already been said, to keep yourself happy.

You could probably also break that up further by super-aff with ppc and super-aff without ppc...

then again all merchants should regard all their affiliates as super and be willing to work with them proactively to generate revenue regardless of their perceived status

Super affiliates - not to be confused with Soup affiliates or Supper affiliates both of which I could well be a member

Super affiliates are experts at affiliate marketing and Top of the Tree, so to speak.

Though there are many types and sizes of trees out there in those thick dense woods so one might be a super affiliate in a specialised area and not in others, etc.

From a merchants point of view they make the most sales.

true or another perspective, it is easy to rack up loads of traffic with ppc, but getting a healthy margin is another trick altogether.

in other words, you could be turning over a bucket load of bizz so the merchants & networks are happy, but not really making a profit for yourself ..a super affiliate to the merchants but really as useful as an unmonetised site ...

oh well ..any self confessed super affiliates out there ?

Maybe we should have a poll of what affilaites average monthly profit is?

That'd split the supers from the none supers

No, that would be an Affiliate Survivor with maybe a little or a lot of Soup for Supper

The term surely originated from a Merchant's office when someone saw an affiliate stats and said, "Boy look at that, aren't they a super affiliate with all those lovely jubbly sales coming in."

But I could be wrong and maybe it was termed from people selling there own get rich schemes on the net, etc.
