--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know it's not the best way of making a fortune but I need some with affiliates, I've decided to go with 2 affiliates
Value Click adverts that pay 15p per a click
Coral Betting
Lead GBP 10.00
Sales 2%
As a football site I did a betting one as it stands a good chance of it being clicked on
Except for adsense does anyone know any good programmes that pay per click, prefably 10p or more? Also I would like some tips to offer the best chance of my web visitors to click on the adverts. This is my planned advert/site template.
Click the following link http://img173.exs.cx/img173/4716/1025ic.jpg
The top advert (Easycruise) and the ipod shuffle skyscraper are both value click adverts, gaining me 15p everytime someone clicks on them. The coral betting is in the top left and theres also a banner at the bottom of the article.
I would like some advice on how to maximise my chances of revenue? Thanks
have you tried espotting, mirago or adsense ?
No, I don't want them as with Adsense your only allowed to display there adverts which isn't something I want.
Espotting will only let you display their ppc adverts, but you can use cpm/cpa from the usual suspects
I believe Mirago let you use other ppc adverts, just they pay you a higher % of click revs if you have an exclusive with them.
Adsense I do not use, but have seen lots of sites with adsense and other adverts on. This doesn't make it correct of course.
Any tips on my current layout to boost clicks?

We use exactly that format on our movie site for five years and I would have to say that the click-through rate on adverts is very very low; less than 1%. People have become blind to ever tower ads.
If you are providing unique content or paying high PPC amounts, you might have to consider using more intrusive ads to recouperate your costs. Don't like intrusive advertising, but otherwise people ignore ads on the sides. See how it's done on the Guardian site or MSNBC.
Good luck![]()
Thanks also would something like this be any good

Where the advert appears before the whole screen for a while before going to the article?
Bump
They're a pet hate of mine - some fool has just put the blasted things on dilbert.com![]()
Having said that I can see how they might be successful to start with, but I think users will grow to hate them like they do popups.
Why use banners? they are not very effective, do you click on them?
You have some decent text on that page, why not add in some contextual text links within your content and I'd guess you'll see a far better result.
I hear if the score is 1 - 0 To England tonight punters would get 14-1 for example.
You could maybe put in adsense bang in the middle of the text, 250x250 boxes work well for that IMO.
I'd bin the valueclick banners too..
Good Luck!
Matthew.
Whats the click through rate for having a 250 by 250 square box? And what are these contextual and how would I go about setting them up?
Agree with Matt. Contextual square-size ads are more effective than banners. Click-through rates are around 3% for 'em on our sites, compared to less than 1% for a banner - though obviously depends on location, context etc.
You can have them on your site if you join Adsense - lots of info on the site.
Hmmm where can I go for UK contextual ads? Also would putting a 250 by 250 block in the middle a load of content be a good move?
Adsense is geodemographic - UK visitors will get UK ads, yanks will get US ones etc.
You might have to tweak your design to get an ad block to look right in the middle of your text, but that's just aesthetics - it can be done if you put a bit of thought into it, and you can be sure that the more integrated your ads are (even adsense), the better they will perform.
If you are worried about how adsense will look a nice trick to get it as unobtrusive as possible is to make all of the bg colours for the panel the same as your page (white or whatever) and surround the google code with your own table border - it looks neater and doesn't stand out like their preset colour schemes.
