I've just launched a new website, www.friskybits.co.uk and want to set up an Affiliates scheme.

I am a Java programmer by trade and have no problem, technically, writing my own code for the scheme. However, is this the best way to go? would I be better off running my scheme through an established program? and if so which one?

I want to get as many Affiliates as I can on board as quickly as I can. I know I have a good site but I need lots of traffic. As I can't get to the top of Google easily or quickly, I see a good Affiliates scheme as the best way forward.

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum

I'd recommend you go with an affiliate network if you want to reach a large number of affiliates quickly.

Given the content of your site, I would suggest you contact Affiliate Future as they have a number of adult toys merchants already on board.

On the subject of content, you may wish to look at your home page - you have a large ad of the fact that you offer a free jessica rabbit worth 29.95 with orders over 70 pounds, then immediately below it you have the same jessica rabbit (worth 29.95 ) on sale for 18.50
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.

    Thanks,

I had noticed that myself, £29.95 is th RRP. I will change it tommorrow.

Maybe I could ask another question here.

I've trie Google ad words and have achieved a CTR of 5.6%. However, the average CPR was £1.30 and my conversion rate was only 1.64%. I might add that I didn't get top position for that price. The fugures for Adwords, in the Sex Toys market just don't seem to stack up. How does anyone make money when they are paying so much per click. Am I missing something here?

    Ahah!!!

That's OUR secret. It's why a merchant has affiliates.

Seriously though if you're looking at getting affiliates you could think about keeping thing "in-house" and purchase affiliate tracking software and set up your own program.

Many of the top companies also provide complete stores. Even some Private Label sites now advertise on AF and they're just affiliates of larger companies.

Yes, I'm coming down in favour of keeping things in house and have started developing my scheme.

When it's ready I'll mention it on this forum , www.affiliateteam.co.uk and anywhere else that seems relevant. Hope you will feel like signing up.
