    Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering what your opinion is on affiliate marketings long term future, do you think it's something that will be available for people to do for a long time in the future?

Surely with so many people doing it won't we run out of popular subjects, if everyone is covering them in detail?

I know theres millions of things to build a site around and make money, but there seems like a lot of poeple who have the top search places covered!

Just after some advice and feedback, thanks alot

In real terms, this market has only just begun, therefore there are lots of trends/avenues/ comparable market trend overlays you can apply.

The way I see it is 1. If you are able to stay ahead of the trends and adapt, your fine
    2. If you are versatile enough to be able to change quickly to market trends and demands then you will be fine

    3. If you cant do 1 & 2, you'll get gradually squeezed out.

This forum tho is great for reading some of the issues people raise in the industry. If you want a crystal ball, we've got it

Depends on how you define income. There will always be long term possibility of small extra income.

But when it comes to paying the mortgage and all the other costs of modern day life I think that in the long term some will make it and many will not.

I also believe that there will always be a future to make money as an afffiliate but you have to be prepared to adapt and flow with the times to maintain your success.

Incomes would go down in a recession as overall spending becomes less. Tie that in with more affiliates and there would be a much tougher fight for earnings.

Some people think that there is a housing bubble at the moment and that this has driven the spending along over the last few years. However as online sellers have lower overheads than real shops I suspect online might survive better if companies can still downscale and adjust to changes quickly enough.

Remember that affiliate marketing has been around since commerce itself, pre-dating the Internet by thousands of years, so i'm pretty sure therefore that Internet affiliate marketing will exist as long as there is commercial activity on the Internet - and nobody is going to predict that going away any time soon!

    "Is this long term income?"

This is the longest job ive ever held

Then ive also made more in one year then the average person makes in their whole working life.

No one can predict the future... but who wants to work forever. If you do well from this then buy yourself some securities like a few houses and stuff.

The way I see it, is as long as the Internet doesn't break then there will always be affiliate marketing of some form.

Remember, online sales are enjoying growth rates currently at 27%. Compare this with high street retail sales which only climbed 0.2% in February and you will see the huge potential for companies to conduct business on the web.

All we have to do as Internet Marketeers is ensure we have quality sites or can run quality campaigns that deliver them customers.

As long as we can do that you can make money for a long, long time yet.

Apparently global warming is going to mel$t the polar icecaps, and raise the sea levels buy some way, this could mean that the river thames bursts its banks and wipes out all the london agencies and everywhere else so I guess its not income for life, but then I'd have proably drowned anyway so wuldnt be too bothered. If you earn money, save it and like nuke says buy some houses or even a different business.

Money makes money, and if you've got time to make money you'll earn money. ???!?!?!?!! I dunno about that one - just made it up

    It's where you put it.

As Aquanuke says "If you do well from this then buy yourself some securities like a few houses and stuff"

I have run three businesses which have failed in my life to date and am now STILL a millionaire as a result of my property investments. For a REALLY passive income, without the vagaries of algo changes and PPC policy problems, rent is king.

No income is long term if you continually buy depreciating assets like cars and inrease your standard of living to spend the excess. Read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" if you haven't already, it's a real eye opener.

And like most on here I would guess, my aff income has increased month on month in almost a straight line, which is a healthy trend and a good answer to your question in itself.

i wasn't on about the ice caps melting....

every so many hundred thousand years or so (or something like that) the poles switch, north becomes south, south north etc. Huge crazy magnetic field, and well your always told not to put a magnet next to your hard drive, but then again it might have no effect at all, who knows.

and you never know one day that ^ might be useful, you might all be millionaires, but I took a level geography!
