Cant see why not!
But it is a very competative market!?!
Doing something similar myself (especially R.Kiyosaki...hes very good)
Hello
I'm trying to start my first affiliate website, and as many have advised that I should start with something I'm interested in. My interest is in the subject of wealth building especially Robert Kiyosaki's. Is this too much of a competitive area to start with?

I couldn't place the name Robert Kiyosaki at first... then I realised that he's the guy behind the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" books.
To be honest, I would NEVER touch anything like that. There's a lot of hype and not much substance, worse still is that his name gets linked to all sorts of very dodgy looking "get rich quick" schemes that try to use the Kiyosaki as some sort of mark of quality.
Google for him and there are thousands of pages of sycophantic claptrap.. but I can bet you that very few people who are using his name to promote schemes actually make any money at all.
You see these "big name" marketers come up from time-to-time, either online or in seminars. I believe that these people are primarily successful at marketing *themselves* only. People who are *really* successful at marketing are those who are too busy making money to talk about it, and are reluctant to give away their secrets and knowledge.
Frankly, boards like this can be a great source of knowledge. Even so, the REALLY successful marketers tend to lurk and not post that much. And you need to be able to determine good advice from not-so-good advice too. Don't forget that one of the best ways you can learn marketing is to go and DO it and then analyse the results.
If you want an interesting critique of Kiyosaki, have a look at http://www.johntreed.com/Kiyosaki.html

Hello Dynamoo,
I'm not promoting any get-rich-quick schemes or some mlm company online. I just want to promote Robert Kiyosaki's books and games. I think you may have misunderstood what his products are. I agree with you about people using his name to promote get-rich-quick schemes or mlm companies, I find that annoying too. But his products by itself has made me realize something I never did. I just want to make it clear that he's not a marketing guru or whatever guru.
Hi Pipsqueak,
Well, it's OK to take inspiration from Robert Kiyosaki (although there are lots of members at A4U who probably have earned even more than he has).
I think that is a deeply crowded marketplace though - type the name into Google and count all the AdSense ads running against the name.. stacks of them.
My best advice is to find a market niche that you either know something about or are prepared to learn about and concentrate on that. Something with a broad appeal, rather than the rather specialised world of re-selling marketing ideas. Sell stuff instead![]()

I think that if you're dead set on writing this sort of thing you should do it out of your own experience, and as much as making an ebook and selling it for loads sounds like a good idea - it's been done and I don't really think it works unless you've got an edge.
No, I think where the market is open in the "make money" arena is to give away this content freely. Not necassarily cos you're feeling nice today, but that there are so many ebooks that no one's gonna give a crap about yours unless you have a name, and you don't really have a name do you.
In my opinion you can do this, but you've gotta make like a content site and give the info away free, then use affiliate marketing and adsense to generate more revenue. You are more likely to make money giving good quality free advice and then recommending where someone could go to get extra help (one of your aff links) than actually making an ebook yourself.
In other words, in a long winded way I am saying that you should sell other people's stuff and not your own, at least in this case. But do it as part of a content site with those Keyword Focused Content Pages (KFCPs) and you should be OK. After all if the content is good then why wouldn't people come, and once you have the traffic then you're sorted. Baring in mind that this is the sort of site that will get alot of free links really, I mean I don't know that many people that are in the SERPs offering free advice on how to make money online, it's all ebooks, ebooks and more ebooks.
I reckon that if you offer free content to people, then people will link to it - I know I would rather do that than to some crappy ebook. What's more is that you could well become an authority figure in that market, because you have the proof of the pudding right there on your site, you're not making empty claims about how to get rich and you're not forcing people to pay for the info. If you do this I think people will trust you so much more to be honest, they'll respect you and realise that you are out to help them. Then you can sell them the ebooks of other people, simple.
Oh yea, and once you've made a name for yourself you can start making your own ebooks and getting people to join your affiliate program etc. What I've said is obviously a long term thing, but that seems to be the only way to break through this already saturated market, by doing something that not many people are doing. The only example I can think of are those sitesell people who although they have paid products they also give away pretty good info too.
Nice long post here, my fingers needed a stretch, good luck with this new idea anyway.
