ASOS founder launches music-related clothing site
By Claire Armitt
Online celebrity fashion store As Seen On Screen's (ASOS) founder Quentin Griffiths is branching into the world of music, by launching a standalone Web shop selling related clothing and accessories.
Everything But The Music - or EBTM.com - will go live on 4 July, and is designed to attract music fans with a range official t-shirts, posters, jewellery and art. Featured bands include Oasis, The Rolling Stones and Coldplay.
The site will also sell music-related fashion brands, following a similar theme to ASOS, which offers the real or high street priced versions of clothes celebrities are seen in, as well as artists' own labels.
"We're aiming to essentially be the HMV of music merchandise," said CEO Richard Breeden. "There's a space in the market - a lot of other sites are fairly niche, but we'll be offering merchandise from across all genres of music."
EBTM.com has also struck deals with various brands to offer exclusive online products. Trainer brand Vans is creating a shoe specifically for the launch in July.
The new music site will use ASOS.com's e-commerce platform. The Web site has been designed by e-commerce specialist Venda, which also runs etail operations for Virgin Megastore and the BBC.
Earlier this week, ASOS reported a 79% increase in sales in the year to March 2005

As I understand it, you're running with a few at first, but will be interested when properly launched.

Hi Ya
Commissions 10% on all referred sales
60 day cookie based on new customer aquisitions.
Usual linking methods banners, product feeds, content units.
POR first via a private network so we can monitor for a month, get affiliate feed back and so on, we will hand pick a small group of affiliates initially and invite them into the program. As EBTM a new business, we want to do this right, last thing we want is to annoy any customers or affiliates with regards to stock levels.... we at EBTM know the power of affiliate marketing and we also know what you can do :0) So... POR for a month and then we will open it up (providing every one is happy to do so) to all affiliates. We will also be working with CJ.com to encourage non UK affiliates to promote this too.
All exciting stuff.... move over ASOS, EBTM coming through watch and learn!

Couldn't have put it better myself and with all the recent goings on it's easy to believe that this will very much be the case. I'll be having a punt at this one once the prog goes public for sure.Originally Posted by jess1

Jess this look slike it could be an absolutely super site and looking forward to having a look at it.
A quick question, you say it's been done by one of the ASOS guys, is this one of the ASOS guys that is still there or does he have no ties with them anymore?
Cheers

Quentin & John Morgan have left the building... Quentin who was my boss for the first couple of years and John Morgan was the FD, both great geezers! The other guys at EBTM are all super stars too, they know all about you and affiliate marketing!
Quentin left ASOS about a year ago, John a few months later.
i read the title of the post thinking ASOS was branching out and wondered why everyone was being so positive after all the posts on what ASOS did - apologies having a blonde dayEBTM.com sounds like it'll be great!

I am soooooooooo looking forward to promoting this with you guys and gals...
Once in a while there is a program and product that hits all the right buttons with visitors, EBTM.com, Every Thing But The Music is one of them. The products we sell will appeal to everyone but where you will make most of your commission is the 18-30 men and women. Whilst we sell band merchandise, we also sell fashion related brands associated with the music industry. Example Vans who are associated with the skate, surfing, BMX and snow boarding community and host many of their own music events.
We also sell products for those loyal fans of the bands like The Rolling Stones, The Ramones, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Motorhead, Nirvana, AC/DC to name but a few.
We sell band merchandise across all the music genres, from New Metal, New Punk, Hip Hop, R & B to Rock, Pop & Soul. We sell products from bands going back across the decades like Bob Marley, T-Rex, The Jam and those all important icons Che Guevara. So we really do have a high appeal factor across the board.
EBTM strives to provide fair prices and exceptional value for money. We watch other retailers closely and set our prices as low as we can. We also don't seek to make a profit on Postage and Packaging, a practice which (we're sure you will have noticed) is not uncommon. We also don't inflate prices to set up an "artificial" sale, another common (but this time illegal) retail practice.
Of course, it is possible you may find individual product prices cheaper on other web sites. If you do, we'd like to know....
This is not just our baby... but yours too... go check us out www.EBTM.com
Let's Rock N Roll
if you have any questions jessica @ ebtm.com or ebtm @ affiliateprogramadvice.com is where I live
