    Hello All,

First off how successful are you as an affiliate? can it really become your main source of income? What area are you in? Totally understand if you would rather not say.

    A little about me

I started scripting about 6 years ago now I have been a devshed (developer shed) moderator on ASPfree.com and have developed programs both large and small for various clients. I have a number of hosting servers that offer good plans for a small price £20.00 per year and up.

Work is increasingly hard to come by and is decreasing value by the day, and so for the last few months I have been looking to develop some affiliate sites of my own in the hope of making some money / reinventing my business. The markets I have are not easy by any means and the majority of sites unfinished due to paid projects and a hectic family life (5 kids + 1 more on the way in November).

Anyway to cut to the case this is what I have planned
E3ay.com & e3ay.co.uk (hope to be ready end of August)
Future-websites.co.uk (should be end of September)
    Future-websites.com – having a re-think
Airroutes.co.uk – not even thought about
uk-auctionsites.co.uk (will drive traffic to my auction sites when done)
property-auction.org.uk (will be powered by same scripts as e3ay)
    goodfinance.net
    baby-gift.co.uk
and I have a paintball one to re-invent

most of the sites above explain them self non of them are easy markets I know but what I am really after is advice on how to make a modest return using the sites I have and 0 funds to put into ppc even if it covers the running cost and may be a little left over to treat the kids at the end of each month.

    Thanks all in advance

    Hi futureweb,

I'm a relative newcomer to affiliate marketing, and like you I'm developing a number of differnet domains.

When I saw the domain e3ay I did chuckle to myself, however I would be slightly concerned that the solitors at ebay may fancy earning themselves a little overtime, especially if you make the site auction based.

My advice would be to lauch all your domains as quickly as possible, with some temporary on-topic content if needs be. This serves two purposes, one is to run down the much rumoured Google sandbox effect, and the second is to earn a little 'passive' income from banners and adsense.

    Good luck.

    Hi Futureweb,

Affiliate marketing can be your main source of income. It does take a fair bit of time and effort to get your revenue up, but it's incredibly rewarding if you put in the right effort.

If you populate all the sites you create with good quality unique content and have a decent concept, you'll not go too far wrong. Sometimes it will take a while for your site to reach it full potential due to various search engine issues. It's important not to get disheartened and to keep putting in the effort... it'll all pay off in the end!

Best of luck, and six kids? Wow!

Have to say I think you're treading dangerously with e3ay - I think ebay's lawyers would have a field day on that one - you have obviously copied their concept even down to their phraseology like 'buy it now'
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.

e3ay a little cheaky but most auction scripts to be found on hotscripts etc use buyitnow. the script has been test using an access back end and is 90% complete what you see on the server has MS SQL back end once complete I will add in a list of our own cetegories the ones on there are borrowed from ebay just for testing i must admit. The code I have written in ASP some vb and javascript and has taken a good few months well years if you count fragxchange.com which the script is based on.

Thanks for all the advice Ill let you know when ebay come knocking
