Erm so do we![]()
hi, i was just looking at a few posts today that i come across, one of them was a repeat of something i saw many times, obviously some people know that mike and i are building (all be it slowly) a proper price comparision site.
Obviously every man and his dog have tried to do it on here, ours was no different other than that we actually know how to do it, just were fighting against time.
We have installed our product and search mapping modules now, which basically detect what people were lookiing for and mapping the search query to the correct products, rather than the traditional lets try and map everything to categories approach which works really well.
Its time for us to install the website design now and create a decent image for it, how we do that is quite basic if its for our own needs. Many affiliates have asked on the forums for white label shopping comparison sites etc for them to use, but we stayed away from entering that conversation. My question is that it will take us just a few days to install our design and activate product mapping, to make the site and allow for white label and further affiliation would take about 6 months for completion (getting it out of a beta). Im not so worried but is there still this motivation to get behind a white label comparision site, if there is i basically need just a show of hands really or a list of things that people would be against to see if its worth the effort. To me its fine, as long as its basically some kind of 50-50 revenue share then its easy, tracking is already in place, its purely the technical resources to operate such a scheme that worries me, it would have to be almost as full scale as running a network.
I think the unique point of what we done is that we can accept our own merchants on a CPC, CPA or CPL basis as well as the traditional network sources which i would guess even gives angle for affiliate schemes to introduce the merchants as well.
Feel free to post thoughts and comments, pm me if you like

Yeah, my hand is up as being interested, though my approach is seperate sites for each category - travel, electronics etc, so a data feed or similar integration method would float my boat more than just being able to put my logo at the top of a full comparison site.
we already have webservices, ie keyword cat queries through php remote file call, iframe or javascript, have examples on some sites.
The real issues are going to be making an admin panel etc, with stats etc in realtime and in a way that is transparent and scaleable.
Didnt wish to sound rude itchy, im sure theres lots of people here, but so many price comparison sites out there that are simply just a search field on a page if you catch my drift.
When it comes down to sites, i myself would prefer to just have people using live results onto their site without any need to show any site logos etc, it suits us better and also further affiliates, i cant see there being too much problems with profit share as we are generally in higher brackets than most on many programs.
Other thoughts and showing of hands greatly appreciated

Cool. When you are far enough along let me know - I have plenty of categories that I haven't filled yet.
Will see how many people actually want something like this, or even a system to show results from all affiliate networks on their content pages (is the same thing) and let everyone know what we will do and when, need to see if its even something that people are interested in first![]()

I'm keen on this too.
Consider my hand well & truly raised.

Would certainly be interested in web services / XML - much less interested in white label.
Already using XML with one of the big price comparison sites and results so far are encouraging.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.
I would be interested in a web service - XML, we are using a couple already and are finding them encouraging.

A white label would definitely be of interest.
The great thing about the Internet is that if something important happens anywhere in the world, day or night, you can always turn off the computer.
I would be interested in a white label tool too, preferably
as easy to implement as possible![]()
