    Hi Folks

Does anyone here use the HSBC merchant account and online payment processing service, and if so, what do you think of it?

    Cheers

We use it - have done for a few months now - don't seem to be any major problems - very quick to get the money into your accout - a lot cheaper than Worldpay. Can be a bit too fussy - if that's possible - flags up quite a few 'possible fraudulent' transactions that simply aren't and it can be slow sometimes.

The only main problem was/is finding a shopping cart which would integrate easily with it - thankfully that task fell to our 'techie' partner.

I have one word for them and it's `avoid`. And I'm not going to expand, I'm all ranted out for now

    When you've recovered please elaborate.

I have had a look at their Payment Service Provider system, Secure ePayments, and the integration needs C or Java, neither of which I know, so on that basis alone I probably won't use it.

I think using ProTx as the PSP in conjunction with an HSBC merchant account is the way I'm going. It looks as though it's cheaper charge-wise too.

    Cheers

Basically, the integration is a nightmare. Quite one of the fussiest bits of software I've ever had to deal with - and many webhosts don't provide the necessaries that the HSBC binaries require. And then you have to integrate it with your shopping cart.

    Your ProTx plan sounds good.
