What do other affils do?

Report them? Use the codes? Ignore them and only use valid merchant issued codes?

What do merchants do?
Stamp hard and ban the person? Request instant removal and ban any affils who refuse? Ignore them - its all sales isn't it?

We only use valid merchant issued codes.

I have no problem with forums discussing "dodgy" codes for personal use, it's up to the forums to deal with any unauthorised use.

I do have a problem when websites use exclusive codes we have organised for our visitors or when they promote codes only intended for personal or members only use and in when I find them I report them to merchants (some care, some don't).

It is all sales but often the merchant has no margin left to pay the affiliate if the discount code is a loss leader intended for a limited audience. If in doubt, ask the merchant, they'll often give permission or offer an alternative promo.
