    Dear all

Can anyone tell me if any of the above are worth spending time on (either PPC or SEO). The rewards are very attractive but the competition is fierce. As anyone got any experience in that fields? Please do let me know as I wouldn't want to spend too much time or too much money.

    Thanks

If I was going to start from scratch in those markets I would be looking to come up with some kind of unique angle first that will attract the visitors. Of course, if you have great belief in your SEO skills you may just want to join the competition, but even then it will take a lot time getting to the top and even more time staying at the top!!

    Hi Couscous99

Brand Conversions is a niche network specialising in the gaming sector. You're certainly right that there is a lot of money to be earnt in this sector, however it isn't an easy market to get into. Once you do though, the rewards are great!

If you'd like to drop me a line please do and I'd be happy to advise.

    Best regards
    Catherine

    Hi

My only experience of something similar was trying to get PPC for a bingo site.

Google just would not play ball as bingo was classed as gambling and therefore a blocked PPC category

Thanks for that eliteshop. I am more an SEO person so I didn't even know this category was blocked. But as google is about to introduce an extra ad position on top of natural search it pushes everything down on the page making natural results more difficult to find.
Finding the right keywords to bet on gaming site must be very hard then

I have just lunched my first poker site and from early reports my SEO has been pitty good as I am listed highly on msn for number of areas I wanted.

Still waiting on Google but can see unless you have a few friends in the same area or people you can get inbound links from you could run into problems.

Think if you got a bit of spare time its an area which is worth a shot but I would not waste too much time/pinning your hopes on making some big dollar.

Thanks for the advice. I will take it on board. I am not after big dollars (it would be nice ) but just a little stream of income. I have read many things about on-line gaming. It seems the industry is growing at an exponential rate so who knows. You might become a millionaire after all

I disagree, although there will always be way to make money in this market the days of exponential growth are over. See attached for brief news on Party Pokers profit warning. Yes you can make money, not a great time for new entrants, will get a lot harder to compete in this area, more people chasing less business ......

In answering the original question I believe that PPC is generally not allowed for gambling sites. Google doesnt allow it and there is not much on bidvertiser gambling related.

ref SEO - A highly optimised site should be the very least you can do in order to make money in this industry. On top of that you will need a large amount of time each day to write articles, get backlinks etc.... To make large amounts of money you will probably need a unique idea as well.

I don't know if this is available to everyone, or just big portals. But news out today (below) is interesting. Can put a gambling.com search box into a site and get PPC revenue from it. The portal network in this news item previously used Overture, but has moved over to the gambling.com PPC system.

"Gaming Corp. Search Syndication Deal with Gambling.co.uk Network

    Gaming Corporation PLC

Gaming Corporation's proprietary search engine Gambling.com
(http://www.gambling.com) today announces the launch of its first major Search
Syndication contract with the Gambling.co.uk network. The Gambling.co.uk network
is a leading Gambling portal operator and is the owner and operator of a number
of top tier portals including Gambling.co.uk, Poker.co.uk, Casinos.co.uk,
    lotto.co.uk and Vegas.co.uk.

Under the terms of the contract Gambling.com's search functionality will be
integrated into the look, feel and navigation of the Gambling.co.uk network web
sites on a revenue sharing basis. The Gambling.co.uk network currently generates
over 500,000 targeted unique monthly visitors.

Gambling.com's Integrated Search enables Gambling portals to incorporate
Gambling.com's pay per click search functionality into its website. The
provision of search functionality will allow portal operators to retain visitors
longer and so provides portal operators with the opportunity to generate
additional revenues. The syndicated search function will enable consumers to
seamlessly search from within the network partners branded environment because
both the Gambling.com search box and the results are provided directly on the
    partner's site.

Gambling.com has created an online search engine that introduces consumers and
advertisers. Advertisers bid on search terms which are relevant to their sites
and pay only for consumers who click on their listings after searching targeted
keywords on which the advertisers have bid. As a result, advertisers pay for
self-qualified leads rather than exposures to potential consumers, as with
impression-based advertising, leading to a higher average revenue per visitor.

Gambling.com's Search Syndication Network builds on the highly successful
affiliate Programmes operated by Overture and Miva.

Commenting on the first major Search Syndication deal Justin Drummond, Chief
Executive of Gaming Corporation plc, said,

"This is a major step in establishing the Gambling.com Search Syndication
network. The Gambling.co.uk network generates a large volume of targeted
Gambling traffic and this will significantly increase the number of searches
conducted via Gaming Corp's proprietary search engine.

The integration of our search technology transforms each network partner site
into a stronger and more profitable destination. Our fully integrated Syndicated
Search offering provides Gambling Portal Websites with a means of adding greater
content depth and new sources of traffic and revenue to their site and I am
confident that we will secure further contracts with other portal operators."

    About Gambling.com

Gambling.com has created and operates an online search engine that introduces
consumers and advertisers. Consumers conduct keyword searches using the
Gambling.com search service at its Web site and at network partner sites across
the Internet. Advertisers bid in an ongoing auction for priority placement in
the keyword search results with the highest bidder's site appearing first in the
results in a similar way to Overture or Miva. Each advertiser pays Gambling.com
the amount of its bid whenever a consumer clicks on an advertiser's listing in
the search results. Since an advertiser only pays Gambling.com for those
consumers who actively indicate their interest by clicking on the advertiser's
Web site listing, Gambling.com provides advertisers with a cost-effective way to
    target potential consumers.

I have to disagree with this statement, I work in the poker and casino industry and we (Betfred) are seeing fantastic growth month on month. As it is a competitive area, affiliates seem to be upping their game in order to compete and generate huge commissions in some cases most months. As our affiliates are paid on revenue share, they get the commission from us for the lifetime their player stays at Betfred.

Even our 'smaller affiliates' have a steady stream of income from promoting Betfredpoker and Betfredcasino. We are also in the process of adding to our gaming portfolio, some unique games to Betfred, which should increase the new interest in our site and even renew lost interest. These games should be launched in the next week or so!

As I see it, we are still experiencing massive growth with no sign of it slowing down!
