Just wondering what you've found is the best day for sending out your newsletter.

I've switched between Monday and Thursday over the last year and haven't really found much difference.

    Do some days convert better???

I used to find the best day from making sales from my newsletter was the day I sent it regardless of day of the week. I chopped from Monday to Friday on 2 of my sites and never noticed much difference, most of the time I could put it down to the offer I went with as the lead one not being as strong or stronger than another offer from a newsletter that went in another day.

I say best thing to do is pick a day and stick to it, avoid weekends I say as you have a lot of office workers on your mailing list for sure.. and maybe for that reason avoid Monday as that's always the day you get loads of people write in to start your week off with a pile of work.. And if you’re sending on Friday make sure it’s sent fully before lunch time

I've tried every day and time possible i think - and they've all been roughly the same.

The biggest problem is not so much the time.. but being blocked by AOL and other ISPs... if anyone has any idea how to get them to deliver genuine emails i'd be most interested.

i would say tuesday, wednesday or friday are the best days because everyone gets too much spam over the weekend. I would also say that mid afternoon is the best time to send because everyone else sends overnight and spam gets cleared out first thing in the morning, you're more likely to get your newsletter read if it appears mid afternoon i think.

You could probably think up reasons why every day would be good or bad

Monday morning would be bad 'cos people are busy, Fri PM 'cos everyone just wants to go home!!!

Maybe analysing too much is a bad thing

I agree withe the AOL mails being bounced back, its a real PITA. Last week all my AOL's went through but the week before all bounced back. There seems no real pattern.

I try to avoid typical sales slogans in the titles and also change the title every week. Sometimes it works, others not.

Our busiest day for traffic on the site and orders is Monday, which just beats Sunday. So we tend to send out our emails at the end of the week. We haven't yet got to the point of tracking when people open the email vs when they click through to the site (because I can't get the budget to use one of the posh systems).

Business tends to drop off towards the end of the working week. We think this is because we ship physical goods and later in the week people will start to postpone buying if they don't expect to receive the stuff before the weekend. So we think mailing on a Tuesday or Wednesday would produce fewer orders.

I once heard that Tuesday at 8pm is the best time to schedule the end of an eBay auction as that's when eBay has the most traffic.

Assuming alot of people are online at that time browsing, checking email and looking at buying online I'd send it out Tuesday lunchtime so people who browse at work in the afternoon see it, and it's there when people log on in the evening after dinner.

But as is being said, all days are going to be fairly similar. I would avoid Mondays though.
