Programmes can suddenly go bad especially with the likes of credit cards etc.
I've seen Credit card companies tighten up their selection criteria and conversions plummet.
It can happen. Really depends what market you're in?
Hi All,
I have just received my sales for the month on November (cant check on a day by day basis with this merchant)
Normally I convert 1 in 10 to 1 in 14 qualified visitors to the page in question.
However, the sales for Nov were shocking, although I had over 1600 visitors to the webpage, not altering any keyword etc I only made 11 sales - that is just 1 in 145.....![]()
I have used this affiliate for over a year and it has been very stable...
Would you think I have a case to argue about this - apart from shouting down the phone, what else can I do...????, as I believe there is no way in the world conversion rates could drop 10 fold.
Cheers

ummm, to be honest it is nothing like that, just a simple chekcing service which in my experiance is stable over the year, although very competitive
Is it a financial services merchant?
Hi - no its a car data check service
It can't hurt to have a civilised chat with the merchant. It suits both parties to find out if and why conversions/sales have fallen.
"I've seen Credit card companies tighten up their selection criteria and conversions plummet."
yeah I remember citibank cards.. like 96% to about 25% conversions in about 2months
on the car check side of things.. it's not fun as of late... heard a few people been sick in bins on stats day... new people doing "car checks" for like £3 or £5 aren't helping... soon no one will be making anything at all, the punter doesn't really know it's not as in depth as a £30+ car check that covers everything.
Time to diversify if car checks is all you have methinksthe market is going southbound
I used a car check program that doubled it's price for a week - that certainly hurt conversion rates!
But there is no way that it could drop from 1:10 to 1:145.........1:30 maybe but something is wrong.
Yes it could - say the price was 50p (silly example I know) and the price was now £15 - conversions would drop like a stoneOriginally Posted by dduk
Have you checked merchant offer to make sure your pre-sell and what they are saying on their site still matches - if there is any inconsistency then conversions will fall.
Other possibility is that merchant tracking has screwed up for a period - again not unknown to happen with any merchant - so be worth checking with them if they are aware of any problem.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.
Well ok it could happen...but to be honest, in my experience, most people looking for a car data check have just found their ideal car, are often in a rush and want to get the check asap - also, most people like alot of things are unaware of cheaper products - buying a car is not the thing you do every day is it? and even at £35 is still cheap when you consider the cost of a car (sorry, am I doing my sales pitch!!!)
Another thing, although there are smaller cheaper sellers, the average guy in the street would have never heard of them. The brand power The AA has over these is massive, as they have been around over 100yrs LOL
