Merchants that specialise getting out of stock

Does anyone else think that it's wrong when merchants that specialise in a certain area go out of stock. I'm not talking about the likes of those selling xbox 360's or PSP's in these cases the demand was huge and stock limited all across the UK.

I just find for example like MP3 player specific merchants who are already out of stock of some of the better selling items (and I'm not talking about one's that have just been relased). We all know about IPODs so surely a dedicated MP3 player merchant should be able to keep enough stock of these to not sell out already.

Maybe i'm just fed up of chasing round all day some specific items

What slightly irritates me is certain MP3 stores pretending they stock iPods when from various visits over the last couple of years they're always out of stock. It seems to me to be a ploy to sell everything other than iPods but maybe I'm getting even more cynical in my old age.
