doesnt seem much point to me, if you have tags stuffed with keywords and no content on the page with those keywords then i for one would use that as an indicator to drop your page if i was an algorythm boss for sure.
Hope this post, posty, door post, lamp post, bad post, good post, leaning post, red letter post, nasty post, free sex post, cat scratching post, morning post, evening post, late post, marker post, poor taste post, not funny post, useful post, strange post, free post, post office, post natal depression, post it note, was helpful![]()
Nothing to see here...
I would have thought that the < ! -- bit would mean that the search engines will read it as a comment and just ignore it anyway
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.
LOL
Ta just A a thought I have seen many hgh ranking sites using these tags above there meta info. General rule of thumb bieng the keywords seem to match the meta keywords just with a slight variation on the order or odd phrase.
I've also seen some very high ranking sites using this technique.
I'm sure it will catch up with them but in the meantime they're doing well!
I think G hammers you for this in all honesty.
Google hates it, Yahoo used to love it, msn does its own thing and lists it. Saying that I agree however that if the content on the page corresponds to the keywords listed in the meta then google and all the other engines get very excited and list the lot.

I wouldn't risk it!![]()
Again, if you're doing it just to artifically improve your ranking rather then benefitting your visitors, don't do it. It's really not difficult to rank well using safe methods so why mess about.

twibo is right. Just do things the correct way and you will gain rewards greater especially in the long run!
Do the usual optimisation of your pages such as filename, title, tags etc. If you have done all that then make sure to work hard on your copy. That will probably be where your site is failing. Improve that and in a few months there will be a big difference.
I was thinking of doing <seo trick here> to my site but I'm afraid the search engines might think it is spam. Should I do it?
No. Why? If you're not sure if it will get you in trouble with the search engines or not then it's probably something you shouldn't be doing. Another good reason not to do it is accessibility. Many webmasters employ hacks and tricks in an effort to increase their search engine ranking. Often times these tricks are at the expense of the usability of their website. Not only to those who have disabilities but to anyone who's trying to navigate their site.
Very well said Tafffer. That is usually a good indication.
Basically if it don't benefit the user viewing the website in question it will be frowned upon and will get punished.
Id rather not bother with the quick Wham bam thank you mam.
meer i learnt a long time ago that short cuts like this are lazy and get you nailed sooner than you think. Most short cuts never work as by the time you've read about it on some forum and think about trying it for yourself the algo's have updated and BAM you get tanked.
However, come up with something dead new and clever PM me as the fool in me still loves a round corner now and then ;-)

the prob is many developers and myself included use comments to remove code temperarily to try stuff out.
Banning sites or marking them down for using a legit development tool seems a bit rediculous.
