I set up adwords for a uk site targetting a popular sector, now I know from old work jobs this area does well for ppc, thing is my impressions are low and im bidding quite high but for some reason my listings dont show well.

My maximum bid is high and my daily spend is high too so i know i should be getting more impressions then I am.

I did spend hours and have maybe 10,000 keyords in several adgroups for my account so have i got too many keywords, is this why. Can you have too many keywords.

When i search in google for my live listings they just dont appear when i know im bidding high enough and have a decent daily spend, my accounts fine and live and no problems, ive had 600 impressions already today for 4 clicks but i know when i did the exact same thing for an old account 5 months agi in the exact same field it performed great. This account was set up yesterday.

    Im lost please help.
I just arent appearing for my phrases despite bidding high enough I know for sure, its wierd. I have some impressions ie 42 so far today when I know it should be hundreds.

I have set up a similar account before for an old client that the website now no longer exists so I have more or less done the same thing with this new account.

If you have too many keywords in your account does it dilute the ranking etc.

I see what phrases I have had impressions for and do a search on it but again cant seem to find it in the adwords listings.

    I'm stumped please help.

I know my maximum bid is the same as the top 3 listings in my field too so whats happaning.

    Thanks.

Is any other advert appearing with the same URL as the one your promoting?

No its a genuine unique url.

Ive just had 1 impression for a keyword that should be my top performing word, it says I was 60th yet im paying what I know should get me in the top 3 at least and my daily spend is set to the reccommended google limit.

hmm just realised i have 3 major errors on it ie links that dont go anywhere they just 404, theres 3 large image son my index page and they just 404'd when clicked on.

Seems they have been like thaht snice it went live Friday when I set up the adwords account, is this the reason my ads werent showing well.

No they would have suspended the ad. You will find with time it will creep up yhe rankings assuming you ad is related to the tergetted keywords.

Yes its all working fine, surely I would have thought adwords is so you cna be on the 1st page not languishing on teh 6th page despite being relebent and having a big daily spend limit and maximum bid amount.

Otherwise whats the point, I dont understand.

Slightly off topic but your quotes above are the exact reason I don't use third parties to manage my ppc.

i think, dont hold me to it that as well as a bid amount that you pay google take into account your adrank. Ads that dont get as many clicks on as others dont show quite so high up the list. If your talking 600 impressions and only 4 clicks then your adrank is pretty poor to be honest. You will probably find that some of the bidders next to you are so well known that the user is clicking on them more than yours perhaps, or have always clicked on them more for this keyword. You may pay more but your paying more for less clicks if you see what i mean.

Someone explained that to me, so dont grill me if im wrong but it could be related to that, check your copy, see if theres anything you can do in the ad description to increase your click through rate from the impression.

I know what your getting at but in this instance it isnt that scenario. New client same area thats all. Old client took it inhouse after they learned the ropes.

    Back optopic please.

I had an ad which was getting 300-400 clicks a day, I edited it and suddenly I was down to 3-4. Usually I find that after 3-5 days or so, it sorts itself out.

Ive just never encountered this before, usually its been straight forward an from the start as long as the bids are high its been fine from teh start, i mean ive had 40 impressions and 2 clicks today and i have nearly 10,000 keywords.

    10,000 keywords?

You should be getting a million clicks a day.
I tend to stick to about 10-50 per ad and it works great.

You may want to create different ads with different wording and see if that solves it

Im covering every posisble keyword and the ones I KNOW bring high traffic yet cant get up the pages.

"No its a genuine unique url"

It may be unique, but are you using a data feed to produce a page that is similar to another site appearing in the same keyword results?

I know that Google are grouping sites that are basically clones, and will only show one of that group. User experience and all that....
