    Hiya

Later this year I am going to launch a new price comparison site (or at least i'm thinking about it)

Anyway I was wondering what you thought of the design - their is no functionality whatsoever at the mo.

The available template pages can be accessed at:

    http://www.gameshowcase.co.uk/article.html
    http://www.gameshowcase.co.uk/screenshots.html
    http://www.gameshowcase.co.uk/compare_prices.html

(it's currently all in html but will be coded in php )

    Thanks for your help

Don't gaming sites tend to look "funkier" if you know what I mean???

Apart from that I can see no probs - other than no Xbox link on left-hand menu.

    Thanks for your reply

I know what you mean by more funky, unfortunatley my design skills in trying to make my sites look funky have ended up looking like a train wreck so I was kind of playing it safe

I'll add the xBox when i create the actual menu (i can't think why i didn't add it )

Also can anyone pass any tips my way on running a price comparison site I would be very greatful.

    Thanks in advance

    Jesse

I think that’s a great start to an affiliate site. I know what Simon means about “funky gaming designs” but think you’re doing the right thing here. At least this way it’s not bogged down with bloated graphics and navigation. I would however make a change to the menu on the left and maybe add a little rollover css boxes which will still keep things clean, fast but add a little style to the design.

You don’t have to be a css genius, take a look at this css menu generator which will do the job.

I'm currently viewing it on 1280x800 laptop - when I look at the screenshots page I have to keep scrolling down to look at the thumbnails.

If you could move the logo to the "black menu" box and lose the Ocean banner then you could shift it all up to the top of the screen.

I'll have a look at the site again when I get home on the desktop machine and come back to you.

Also, could put a link to the price comparison page after the last thumbnail - visitors may then instinctively click on that link after clicking on all the thumbnails.

    Just a thought.

    Hello (me again )

Once again thanks for the replies!

I noticed you mentioned moving the design up, it would be something i could do but i fear that the problem would reappear if more screenshots were added. The Harry Potter game (i just love the books, the film and the game ) has around 30 screenshots associated with it, and i can only fit 5 on each row. I will add a link to the compare prices and buy page underneath the screenshot thumbnails 2morrow (i need some sleep 2day )

I have experimented with the css rollovers on the menu do you think that this is any better??:
http://www.gameshowcase.co.uk/article.html (it's only on this page as i was experimenting).

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Jesse

On my 1280x1024 monitor there is about 1 inch top and bottom and the screenshots look fine!
