Please forgive me if this is in the wrong group. I have opened a google adwords account. And started a campaign. I used the tools provided and suggestions made and created an ad. Even read google ads for dummies. (indeed) armed with my new found knowledge I attempted to test the waters. Well I think the waters have tested me. Anyone with any experience of google adwords that can give me a few tips would be much appreciated. I have had a cpc at about .25 advertised a well know site (adult orientated) not pornographic just to see and well...I havent received any clicks whatsoever. Could this be google just stopping the ad. I have checked google ads and there are ads that already advertise this site, which is why i used it in the first place. havent had any clicks tho..ad has been running for 2 days. No clicks and no warnings from google to say it was inapprpriate so I dont know where I went wrong.

Profit of doom answer: and absolute the real truth, no one is going to tell you how to run a a successful adword campign. Because a) people here are your competitors, and b) no one really knows.

If affiliate a) is working ok for a said campaign do you seriously think they are gonna tell you what works and what doesn't?

Affiliate b) meanwhile has loads of dosh to test the waters...he/she is unlikely to say what works/doesn't....

    Are you taking the piz?

    Few Things To Consider:

    - Is your site/ad being displayed at all - have you checked?
    - Is your CPC Too Low?

Don't discount Google's poor/indifferent performance when it comes to displaying ads - there's plenty of instances in this forum.

If you've tried the above then drop them an email, wait for the email with 50,000 hyperlinks, wait half an hour then watch your clicks rise!

    Hi Strayman,

It can sometimes take quite a while for new adverts to start to be shown. Of late I've had it take as long as 1 week+ to get some of my new ads showing impressions. But as the hairycornflake says, giving them a poke up the behind by dropping them an email often helps.

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hey Strayman,

Are you getting any impressions? How many? What's your average ad position?

All these can be found on the last level - i.e. your ad group overview. If you haven't had any impressions, run the diagnostic tool, which can be found in the "tools" section.

If you're getting impressions, but no clicks, and have a low (or high in numbers!) position, then you need to raise your CPC.

If you have a high number of impressions and low CTR (Click through rate), you need to optimise your ad text.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,

If an ad campaign has any 'adult related' keywords I think the ads and keywords need to go through manual review before they will start displaying. In a similar situation last week I gave them a quick call after the campaign was n't displaying after nearly a week and they reviewed and had the campaign running within an hour or two. Email requests usually take them a day or two to get around to.

    All the best,

    Stu

I've apparently needed manual reviews on every adgroup I've set up in the last few months - I don't think it's limited to porn anymore. Bloody annoying to say the least, what with how slow they are to review ads these days.

This has been such a great help guys. I will restart the Ad and drop them an email and see what they say. I was beginning to think maybe it was just me doing the wrong thing. Will get back to them. Adult links are ok to use then? example adultfriendfinder?
