Should probably make this one, it ain't that long away though, only a month.
I *think* that the Barca Bar is owned by Mick Hucknall (Simply Red).

Good Afternoon,
Registration is now open for our Manchester Get2Gether on the 22nd June. We have secured a private area at Barca bar, one of Manchester’s most famous café bars.
Once again we will be operating our industry zones for Finance, Casino & Gambling, Mobile & Internet, Electrical & Retail and Travel.
We will be having a BBQ on the balcony, and will be starting earlier from 4pm to make the most of the sunshine (fingers crossed!) There will also be a free bar for the evening - the event will run until 1am.
We also have a number of competitions running throughout the night as well as some fun and games to keep you occupied.
This time we do have a small booking fee of £10 Inclusive of VAT. This helps us cover event costs as well as investing in future affiliate marketing events.
We hope you find this business networking event a great addition to your social and business calendar.
Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Full information can be found below:

I look forward to seeing you there.
Many Thanks,
Matthew.

part-owned by Mick Hucknall :-)
Prob explains the £10 extra fee that is being put into existim's pocket (matt)
umm - free bar, free food, great company and the possibility of creating new business alliances - apart from the time it takes to arrange these functions - it's worth far more than a measly ten quid matey£10 extra fee that is being put into existim's pocket (matt)

Well put Elaine!!!
Steve you have been coming to get2gether for a few years and have never had to pay anything to go. With the numbers increasing all the time the cost of organising these events is getting more. You have all the badges and marketing material that Existem provide us so we know who we all are, who pays for that?
Also if the £10 will keep the bar open for a bit longer that is great.
I honestly cant see any reason why you would complain about this really small cost.
Was that comment really justified? Do you feel better for posting it here?Originally Posted by Mc661
As Elaine and Mark have said £10 is nothing for a night that includes a free bar, a bbq and great networking.

how can anyone complain about paying a £10 fee in this kind of industry..
you want to take a look at how the good old USA would have handled it.. it would have been $200 and networks would be paying like $600 for the networking oppotuinity, the way they monetise events is crazy yet inspiring.
£10 !?!? doesn't even register on the scale... it's not even four beers
Isnt this what the networks pay the £3k sponsorship for?
Yeah it maybe £10 now, but whats to say it wont be £50 next time or even £100 the time after?
I dont think its right that the sponsors who pay £3k then get told that the people they want to come to the event have to pay. If I was a sponsor (which im not and are not likely to be in the future) id be p***ed off if after that £3k that the people I wanted to come would be charged.
In past events the bar has run out early and was picked up by one of the sponsors I do belive. Is this what the £3k is for? Yeah I know hiring a venue isnt cheap but how can other network exclusive events (i.e. just a one network event) manage to keep the bar going until 1am from a 4pm start?
Good thing you're not a sponsor thenIts the sort of thing that would make me think s*d it, and withdraw my sponsorship.
These events don't just materialise, they're planned, organised and take up the people's time. Time doesn't come free! I seriously doubt Matt is organising the events for his retirement fund.
Perhaps previous events have ended up costing him and the small fee now added is a way to make sure the events run fine?
£7 million investment goes a long way in bar termsjust a one network event) manage to keep the bar going until 1am from a 4pm start?![]()
As they say if you can do better - do better!
Jason
do better?
Remember the Norwich event, nah dont suppose you do, do you. seeing as you think norwich is in the midlands.
That was orginised originally by me, and then I got OMG backing on it. The Bar stayed free till finish, and none of the merchants were forced to pay, the network wasnt forced to have to sponsor anything, to be there. The venue had a minimum spend (which was basicly the bar tab). Also there wasnt a restrictive policy on how many people could come.
As a relative newcomer to this forum (and still benefitting as a free member) I don't see the problem with this £10 fee. What I have learned since starting to use it has certainly more than covered the fee, compared to affiliate revenue last year from the few adverts I carried when I was really flying blind.
As the membership of this forum has grown hugely even in the 8 months or so that I've been looking in, a revenue model that enables future events to go ahead is nothing bad. If Existem make a healthy profit, good luck to them. It will mean that the impetus is there to keep on spending the time and energy in organising them. With investment such as that seen with Perfilliate recently, making a few grand + off each event for the company that provides such a well managed industry communications platform seems nothing short of just reward. Let's face it - of course the people posting do make a forum, but the forum sure as hell takes a lot of time to manage and develop.
Manchester is great for me as it is local and if this kind of fee means that these regional events are possible it seems small beans indeed, like Shane says, merely a couple of beers. The networking possibilities for someone still finding their feet surely far outweighs the fee paid and in this industry paid entry plus sponsorship is not uncommon, but rather seems the norm.
Looking forward to it![]()
do i? could you qualify that accusation or are you just feeling a tad aggrieved in general and feel that making such a comment makes your argument any better?Remember the Norwich event, nah dont suppose you do, do you. seeing as you think norwich is in the midlands.
No I don't remember the Norwich event, but congratulations you're a real hero then!
Jason
Tell you what Mc661 as the £10 obviously offends you deeply I will pay it on your behalf. All I ask is that you don't wear that sailor suit again.
