That's scary, I've just read your posting and I too have just recieved the same message with a subject heading of 'Important Legal Notice Regarding Your Google AdWords Account'. I have an AdWords account but not actually using it at the moment.
Not too sure of what to make of it myself.![]()
I think the owners of the website are psychic - I just received an email whilst reading the thread too!!
Have spent a minimal amount of money with Google, so it probably wouldn't apply to me. Is nice to hear of Google having to compensate for click fraud though.
Thomas
Never used the email they sent to me for a google account and clearly is a attempt to do no good.
Thought id let you all see this as i havent seen it before, it comes with an attachment which i havent looked at and never will.
the email was sent to a webmasters account....

xmr3.com is a mass mailing house. The www.clicksettlement.com site is down at the mo, I guess its being hit hard. I'll post more as I find it. But basically some fraud clicks may have happened on your adverts, and this action is to ensure you only got what you paid for and if not a refund.Originally Posted by Bod
Can I have £5.50 refunded or at the very least £2.75 for every click please?
That's what G always wants from me to advertise 'purple cushions from outer Mongolia' or any such keyword/phrase.
Please feel free to cut and paste me an answer that means nothing whatsoever if you can be bothered.
Maybe that's why Google upped all their CPC in readiness to pay some american 'law suits'
PS: I wonder if www.clicksettlement.com would flog the email dbase they now have? MSN might fancy buying it?
I thought this was spam so deleted it! Guess I should have a read now.
This is a legitimate email, this is what my account manager at Google had to say about it last week:
"As you may have heard recently in the media, Google has settled a class-action lawsuit regarding invalid clicks. Over the next few days, you can expect to receive formal notice of this settlement, which will provide additional details and explain how you can participate in the settlement. Please note that under the settlement, you will be able to claim advertising credits that can be applied toward future advertising with Google.
The official notice will be emailed to the contact email address that is currently on file with your account(s). In an effort to ensure you are aware of the settlement, you will receive a notification at the email address associated with each of your AdWords accounts. Please watch for the notice(s), and if you have any questions after you have received the email and read its content thoroughly please let me know."

Do they automatically offer it on some % of what you have spent? An arbitrary amount of what they deem worthy - maybe a fraction of 1%.
or
Can you only claim it with evidence / proof ?
Will it only be a matter of time before other ppc search engines are clobbered?
