The beauty of the RSS feeds is that many blogs and cms systems can use these without any modificatation apart from adding the affiliate links to the url. However they are not appropriate for people who require more detailed product feeds.
It would be nice if a standard for xml (and csv) feeds could be decided on instead of each merchant/network doing their own thing.

I have started to use them, they are great for lazy affiliates.
They are the easy to use and dont need Javascript as they are server side so are good for google. They can be used by websites and users alike.. they are the future.
We need more merchants supplying them.
Funny that coz we need more affiliates telling us merchants what sort of RSS feeds they want (latest products, best sellers etc.)

Totally agree with this. Please do remember that a lot of the time when affiliates ask for things we may not have a clue of exactly what it is you are after.
We've taken a stab at RSS feeds, but are yet to have 1 affiliate give any feedback on them, so don't know whether they are what you are after or if there are changes that you would like to see.
I am also keen to look at producing these for affiliates, but don't have a huge amount of knowledge in the area. As Adam and Mat have said, we need feedback now to make sure they're what you're after!

One of the requests we have had is for a standardised image tag in the <</>item</>> section. So far we have been using the <</>comments</>> section as it is a recognised standard field, but does anyone have any suggestions?
We could just use whatever we like, like the <</>imageurl</>> that was suggested but as there are so many aggregators out there we may cause problems with some and our only way of knowing short of someone downloading them all, is through feedback which often isn't very fast.
Next up after this is do we stick to a set size, provide sizes, etc...
Any ideas anyone reading this has, post them up on here so we can all get thinking along the same lines.

It's interesting to see that they have chosen to stick to the base standard and not to implement images, but then have gone over the recommended 15 items limit.
We have just had our first competition on the RSS feed, it helps us know who is using it and gives them the chance to win something in return. The winner was announced yesterday and won a Nokia N80.
