    Merchants with RSS feeds

    Any chance that merchants that offer RSS /xml feeds could post details here?

    It'd be a useful tool for people to keep their sites fresh in a style to suit their needs.

    P.s. there's a tip for newbies. If you've got domains you're not using, create a homepage using an rss/xml news feed using php not js. Get those pages linked to from your other domains and let them mature in the big G.

    Add some Adsense or similar and if the nice merchants have rss/xml feeds add the affili tracking url and add a "latest product" section.

    Over time, when your whim takes you, add a page of content here or there - maybe 1/2 pages a month.

    In six months or so, your site should be ready for some nice G traffic. Unless of course you get some amazing links from the outset.

    Merchant RSS feed are hard to find. I have been looking so I can try to build a list of programs that offer RSS.

    Here are a couple I have found so far.
    Montred which sells jewelry and Buy.com has several.

    Also for affiliates if you have merchant data feeds you want to convert to RSS because the merchant still does not have a clue and is not offering RSS feeds, here is a datafeed to RSS conversion script that's pretty slick. One of my forum mods developed it. Be sure to scroll down to the video to see how easy it is.

    Hope this helps and best of luck!

    We also have a selection of RSS feeds available:
    Even if you are not using RSS feeds to display data on your site we think it is well worth adding our affiliate news feed to your preferred news reader.

    These are all quite new, so if anyone has any suggestions for new feeds or improvements to the existing ones please let us know.

    More information on these feeds, plus subscription links etc can be found on this page of our affiliate portal

    Just putting together the first of our RSS feeds (latest 10 products - still working on the others) I noticed that with some of the other RSS feeds posting here that no'one seems to include prices with their feed? is that normal practice or would affiliates prefer with price?

    for example

    HOM light colours - £15.00

    {description}

    Rather than

    HOM light colours

    {description}

    and im guessing a short description (colour, size, fabric) is better than the usual full blurb

    Just asking so that i get it right.

    Hi, I'm going to be setting up an affiliate program in the next couple of weeks, and will be setting up some feeds, but do you (affiliates) want feed content written with you as the audience or written with your visitors as the target?

    Good point. Thoughts? I would've thought you could do both...

    As much as RSS feeds are nice things to have, are there any affiliates actually using them at the moment? Similarly with nice creative and product feeds, often a lot more people want these sort of things, than actually use them.

    Ok we have our first feed in place (working on best sellers per category i.e swimwear, briefs, hips and maxis)

    This feed is the latest 10 products added - if anyone can give me a comment on what style of description they prefer it will help me A LOT in doing the other feeds.

    Do you as an affiliate prefer

    A) A short - straight to the point description - as seen in the first 3 products (light colours)

    B) A fuller more editorial description (see the 4th product - atika swimming boxer)

    Latest 10 products

    Any opinions at all please PM as I want to get this right before emailing all our affiliates with the location of the feed.

    We are also looking into supplying RSS feeds, but I would love some guidance as to what our affiliates want in terms of types of feed and what to include in the feed - we want to produce something useful!

    For example, we have loads of testimonials from customers and site visitors which we would like to put to good use, but is this the kind of thing that is useful to include in a feed, or is it just product based info that is best??
