Hi,

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could advise me on this. I have made an account on Linkshare UK and as I am sure many of you know (because I read on this forum) there are no affiliate schemes to signup to so it is in effect useless. Or am I missing something?

I have read on here though that many people from the UK are using Linkshare in the USA with US affiliates successfully.

I have tried signing up on the US website but when I set my country to 'Great Britain' it just creates an account the same as on the UK website.

Do I have to lie about my country or something or are people only suceeding in doing it having an Address/Bank account in the US that they can use?

If I lie about my country can I still get paid? I don't know how they process payments..

I work for the US LinkShare Network and one of our UK staff sent me this post. It sounds like you just need to add the US Network to your account. Below are the instructions on how to add a new LinkShare Network to your legal entity channel.

1. Log into your LinkShare Affiliate Account
2. Click on the Your Account tab in the Affiliate Interface.
3. Click Update Profile on the left side of the page.
4. Select the channel you wish to add to the LinkShare Network.
o Channels are listed in the upper left hand corner of Your Account page and signified by the icon that looks like a web page (rather than the icon that look like an ID card image).
5. Scroll down to Web Site Network in the Marketing Channel Information.
6. Click on the check box next to LinkShare Network you want to add.
7. Hit Update at the bottom of the page.
8. To manage your affiliate program in the other LinkShare Networks, use the drop down menu in the upper left section of the LinkShare affiliate interface, and select the LinkShare Network to Join Programs, Create Links, and Run Reports.

Keep in mind affiliate payments will be paid based on the currency of your legal entity country. For example, if your legal entity is registered with a US address, your LinkShare UK Network commissions will be paid in dollars, not pounds.

We will be communicating with LinkShare UK affiliates as we add merchants to our UK Network.

Q. I have never heard of LinkShare, is this a new company?
A. LinkShare is considered a pioneer in the affiliate marketing space in the US. For more than 10 years, we have been operating affiliate marketing networks in the US, Canada and Japan. We recently launched a network for UK affiliates and merchants. LinkShare is a wholly owned subsidy of Rakuten, the sixth largest Internet company in the world.

Q. What merchants are in the LinkShare UK Network?
A. Because we are a new network to the UK, we are constantly adding new merchants to our network. Once you join the UK Network, look for new merchant announcements or there is also a list of new merchants in the affiliate interface on the left side of the Home page. Our other Networks work with many Fortune 500 companies and top online merchants.

Q. I would like to become a part of the LinkShare UK Network, how do I register?
A. To register a new LinkShare UK Network affiliate account, go to www.linkshare.com/uk, select “Join Now”, and follow the steps below:
1. Entity Type - be sure to indicate that you are a “Foreign” account if you are located outside of the US.
2. Entity Registration - follow the prompts and enter your affiliate program information.
3. Terms and Conditions - review and accept the agreement.
4. Tax Form - this is where you will be asked about VAT and other applicable tax forms.

Once you have submitted all the information above, you will receive an email from LinkShare with a link to login to your account along with some additional information to get you started.

Q. I already have a LinkShare Network account for the US and Canada, How do I register for the UK Network?
A. If you are already an existing LinkShare Network affiliate:
· Go to Update Profile under Your Account from the Home tab in the affiliate interface.
· Select the channel you wish to add to the LinkShare UK Network (channels upper left corner and are signified by an icon that looks like a web page).
· Scroll down to Web Site Network in the Marketing Channel Information, click on the check box next to LinkShare UK, and hit Update at the bottom of the page.

Once you are registered, you can manage your UK program by using the drop down menu in the upper left section of the LinkShare site, and select LinkShare UK to Join Programs, Create Links, and Run Reports.

Q. I run an affiliate marketing program and have to pay VAT, does LinkShare provide VAT accounting?
A. Affiliates that are VAT registered and have provided LinkShare with a VAT Registration Number, LinkShare will provide you with a VAT Invoice for the commissions included in each payment that you receive. Your VAT Invoice will show your commission earned, the VAT Rate applied to that commission, the VAT Amount, and the Total Amount.


Q. How often does LinkShare issue affiliate payments?
A. LinkShare issues two affiliate payments around the 8th and 22nd of each month. With these batch payments, LinkShare includes all merchant payments received and cleared as of the day the payment file is authorized. Our standard payment terms require LinkShare merchants to pay by the end of the calendar month once the invoice is posted. For example, affiliate commissions earned during the month of October (which are invoiced in early November) would be paid by most of our merchants by November 30th and processed and paid, in turn, by LinkShare as part of the December 8th payment batch. With our consolidated payments, affiliates are also able to set a payment threshold.

Q. I would like to receive my affiliate payments via direct deposit, is this option available with LinkShare?
A. Yes, LinkShare UK Network affiliates are not able to receive a physical check; direct deposit is your only payment option at this time. We also offer direct deposit to the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and United States.

Q. I run an affiliate program that requires me to track individual users, do you support this tracking?
A. Yes, you will need to register for LinkShare’s Signature product. Signature allows affiliates to track and generate detailed reports on the commerce activity generated by its site down to the transaction level of each individual member, organization, or sub site.

Q. I find it more effective to have individual merchant product links rather than merchant banner ads on my website. Do LinkShare merchants provide individual product links?
A. Yes, there are a variety of ways that LinkShare merchants can provide you with individual product links:
o LinkShare Merchandiser allows affiliates to integrate individual product links on their website without having to create links manually to each product that is carried by a merchant. The merchant needs to subscribe to the Merchandiser.
o Link Locator Direct is an XML data feed that provides affiliates with the ability to access updated promotions and products from merchant partners without having to create links manually by logging into the LinkShare Interface. To access the Link Locator Direct feed, affiliates need to build a web services application.
o Merchants may also include product links in the Create Links portion of the LinkShare Affiliate Interface.
o Some merchants offer a tool within the Create Links section that allows affiliates to search the merchant’s website for specific products. This tool then creates a link for the affiliate with all the necessary tracking codes.

Q. What type of support does LinkShare provide affiliates?
A. Since we are still getting our Network staffed, we will provide email support. Once the Network is fully staffed, we will provide phone and live chat. Our larger affiliates will also have an account manager to help them manage their LinkShare merchant relationships.
