Planning an Affiliate Get-Together

Hi All

We are about to launch a new retail website mid september offering around 5000 products in the following categories,

Gifts
Gadgets
Homewares
Garden
Audio and Visual
Toys and Games
Adult

and a few others! Im sure you are all sat there thinking, another retailer (blah blah blah) but our site does have a twist!! (so if you come along you will find out before everyone else!!!)

We are about to sign up with a couple of respected networks to run our affiliate program.

We would like to have an informal get to gether of affiliates before the launch where you can meet us, understand about our business model and the benefits of promoting us

My question is, what would you all like to do, and what would get you there to meet us?

Would hiring out a restaraunt/bar with lots of free food and drinks be a good start? If so, where would be an ideal location for you all?

How about a day out at a theme park followed by a few bevvies?

A pub crawl?

What would make you guys and girls leave your computers and come and meet us to see what we can offer you?

If I get a few ideas and a good general concensus then we can start planning for something soon to benefit you all

Hi Jon,

Organising events can be a nightmare, and you need to have a really good reason for affiliates to be there. There are so many now that affiliates will pick and choose what to go to and the big affiliates can be hardwork to persuade. We had a couple of issues with Barbados!

You'll prob find it better to set something up before one of the more established events.

You'd be well worth doing a lot of groundwork before September as you'll miss the critical rush with affiliates.

The answer's in the question. How about letting us loose with your best stock to see what takes our fancy. Have a few of your buyers hanging around who know what is likely to sell, and where the margins are.
