Authority Web sites

I am looking to do some research on authority web sites. I cannot go into detail right now, but I will post all my findings on this forum when I am finished.

It would be a great help if you could post or PM me a few of the authority sites in your sector. The wider the variety of the sites the better it will be for my research. Please note that I am not only looking for authority sites such as the BBC, ESPN etc... but also sites that are perceived as authority sites by the people in that sector.

Sorry for being a cheeky sod. But if poosible, could you also include a line or two explaining WHY you think the site(s) are perceived as authority sites?

Is it because they are a well known brand?

Do they have the most information & resources for that sector?

Do they rank well in google and people now see them as an authority?

etc.....
