Anyone care to share about this subject?

    How to get around it?

How to avoid having 1000's of sites having the same content?

I'm afraid the only way to avoid having 1000's of sites having the same content.. is not use RSS Feeds

Personally, I don't think duplicate content is as serious as people make out.

There's an awful lot of Websites out there. Even if you spend ages producing your own content... someone will come and steal it - then it's no longer unique.

You could make sure you only include the title in the feed which then links back to the full article on your site. Then you end up with lots of relevant links back to one page of content.

there's a difference between having the same content and having the same page.

Many may, as comparestore says, take the titles. Others would limit the descriptions to the first 20,30,50,100 characters, and some may not choose the feeds you use.

With so many different RSS feeds around, including all the major news sources, the possibility of any affiliate using a combined feed that's the same as yours is minimal.

Think of the positives of having fresh content etc and make sure the rest of your page is unique enough from others then it shouldn't be a problem.

It would only a problem if you're trying to create cookie-cutter, Made-for-adsense sites where people generally can't be bothered to use the content imaginitively.

Ah I think I got the wrong end of the stick as I thought you meant your content being duplicated but you meant that you are taking other people's feeds and displaying them on your site?

If that's the case then you need to add some of your own content too and as getvisible says use a combination of titles and snippets of the descriptions when using other's feeds.

However if you are simply relying on other people's content and not adding any value then Google will probably realise this and unless you can get some high quality links you will not get very good organic rankings.

Imagine, 1000 affiliates grabs your RSS feed automatically and publish on their blogs/websites and uses something like RSS2HTML and stores all articles that way.

Within quite short time the majority of their website will consist of 500 articles (exactly the same as on other 1000 sites). Google will kick ass for this - maybe not banning from index, but let's say, getting into supplemental index would be almost the same.

Anyone have workaround for this? Strong links will work for 1-2% only.
