    Hi,

Over the last couple of days Google has been showing just 7 of my 60+ pages in the index.

Prior to this there were over 50 listed.

    Why could this be?

    Hello Simon,

I've just had a look at your indexing on Google, and it might just be a temporary issue as newish sites quite often see fluctuation in their indexed pages.

However, I see some of your site pages that remain have gone into the supplemental index. Given that I know your site content is robust and 100% original, perhaps you need to do a wee bit of link work to improve indexing?

Give me a shout if you need any help with it!

    Hi Simon.

Google is all up the spout at the moment anyway. They are having issues with geo-location i.e. you may find you drop off totally from google.co.uk but still be on .com.

They are still trying to get this worked out and it is causing a lot of issues however the effects are normally only short.

Not sure if this is having any affect on you, but it could be.

Has your number of indexed pages gone back up yet?

It would be interesting to learn the outcome of this and see if you could work out why it happened. hopefully it’s not Google de-indexing your site completely

    Hi

i'd give it a few days - Googles all over the place at the moment - unless you're paying (ppc campaign) to stay on page 1.

have you hear of the 'Google -30'

if your site drops 30 places then it could be a minor slap on the wrist from Google for using spam like techniques such as:

    keyword stuffing
    over optimised meta
    buying crap links
    duplicate content
    low banner to content ratio

any of these ring any bells?

You can usually work out which one applies to you, sort the issue and the next time Google craws your site you should be back in business.

Also, with the site being so young, you should expect the site to yo yo for a little while.

Can't think of any reason, it is a new ecommerce website with unique content which we have written ourselves. Also never bought any links or stuff with keywords.

    Strange

    get real?

The site's 2 months old - anybody knows that they go all over the place for the first 6 months.

    Minor slap

Crikey - my original post was just over 3 years ago!

Thankfully the site is now ranked a lot better in Google - phew!
